Senior Project Manager
What You'll Do Avalara is seeking a Senior Project Manager for the newly created Business Transformation PMO, who will ensure a high degree of integrity and lead project execution and alignment with functional teams. Reporting to the Director of Business Transformation PMO, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for a broad range of activities including project management of cross-functional initiatives, establishing process and rigor with our partners, and integrating best practices. The Senior Project Manager will need to possess outstanding thought leadership, strategic thinking, analytical and organizational skills, and will have a proven record of excellence, operating independently and thriving within a high performing team environment. Highly motivated self-starter who can lead projects with limited guidance. Ability to proactively anticipate needs and take action to support what is in the best interest of the business. A successful candidate will be detail oriented, collaborative, and possess the ability to articulate a process and structure that will allow multiple teams to achieve their goals across the organization. Strong candidates will have operational experience a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. Job Duties Drive cross-functional decision making Create & manage project plans to deliver on company priorities Operationalize and build scalable processes Define business metrics to track operational effectiveness and performance of projects and identify opportunities for improvement Facilitate the creation of key initiative project plans, scope and objectives Identify required resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution Provide executive readout summaries, as required, on specific key projects What You'll Need to be Successful 5+ years of Project Management experience Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on PowerPoint presentations Proficient in the use of Jira (Confluence proficiency a plus) Proven ability to coordinate teams, align goals, and drive execution Able to gain support by influencing peers and senior leadership Proven ability to solve problems creatively Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus About the Team The Business Transformation PMO drives program delivery across multiple lines of business.
