Job SummaryLocation: Detroit, MI
Working for the Project Management Office (PMO), the position is responsible for managing technical aspects of project development from inception through initiation of construction with continued supporting role through start up and close out. Power industry experience is essential particularly in the areas of gas turbines and gas/electrical interconnects. Carbon Capture experience is a plus, particularly in the areas compression and carbon capture well drilling and sequestration.
Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion. Work is mainlyself-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures. Must live within a commutable distance from DTE's Detroit, MI headquarters, however, the majority of work will be done remotely.
Key Accountabilities Screen projects to determine technical viability Ensure that personnel safety and environmental awareness are incorporated in design Facilitate development and review of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) specifications and drawings Prepare formal RFP packages and manage competitive bidding processes, including evaluation of proposals and selection of contractors and vendors Develop cost estimates and expenditure forecasts for management review, if applicable Review, manage and organize project documentation including technical specifications, calculations, and drawings to ensure protection of owner’s technical and financial position Coordinate performance test procedure development and evaluate performance test results Oversee contractors, consultants, engineers, vendors, and government agencies to complete projects within scope, schedule and budget. Perform technical due diligence activities in support of acquisition efforts. Travel within the continental United States; expected to be about 10% to 30%, depending on the stage of project implementation,and may increase to >75% during startup Perform all other related duties as assigned Minimum Education & Experience Requirements A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, or Construction Management, with 8 or more years of experience as a project engineer, project manager or construction manager Other QualificationsPreferred:
Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Project Management Professional
