With the expansion of our transportation infrastructure projects across Western Canada, EXP is excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager/Highway Engineer in our Transportation team. This role is pivotal as we focus on advancing multi-modal transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the Western Canada region and beyond.
 

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects and be an integral member of our transportation infrastructure team. You will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of tasks, including safety studies, multi-modal roadway planning, aviation design, highway and bridge design, transit design, site civil design, design review, and construction oversight.
 
This is a leadership role based in BC, where you will be directly involved in mentoring and guiding intermediate and junior staff members, helping them reach their full potential. Reporting directly to the VP of Transportation for Western Canada, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the growth and development of the team.

In this role, you'll be part of the team building and managing the sales pipeline, analyzing  and staying ahead of market trends. By collaborating with regional and global EXP teams, you will enhance client engagement and project delivery while implementing strategies to boost our market share.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Stay informed about current business trends and the evolving market landscape with the support of an industry leading marketing and business development team. Leverage connections in private organizations and provincial/federal bodies to actively create project opportunities and understand their economic expenditure plans. Key clients include—but aren't limited to—BC MoTT, TEC, TransLink, BC Transit and various municipal agencies, and transit bodies. Foster partnerships and elevate the positioning of the EXP team through your industry network. Help develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve growth targets across Western Canada. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, spanning both public and private sector projects. Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry allies, acting as a Client Account Manager. Assist in proposal development, including oversight, writing, and review to ensure winning solutions. Participate in client negotiation processes, assembling teams, and executing teaming agreements to create competitive and compliant submissions. Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with company goals and capabilities. Represent EXP at industry events, conferences, and networking gatherings to increase brand visibility and business opportunities. Develop and execute effective sales and marketing strategies to drive market growth, in line with EXP’s strategic and financial objectives. Collaborate closely with local operational staff to nurture a successful business development culture. Report to and coordinate with the Western Canada Business Development Leader to optimize overall growth objectives.

What your experience looks like

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Engineering or MBA is a plus. P. Eng (BC) is essential, and PMP certification is a strong asset. Recognized Leadership certification is an asset. Minimum of 8 years of experience in planning, design, engineering, and construction of transportation/transit projects. Experience with BC-MOTT (Ministry of Transportation and Transit) as an organization and project delivery is required. Experience in heavy civil transportation and infrastructure project delivery. Proven expertise in engineering advisory, program/project management, project controls, and construction management. Understanding of P&L account management and business growth would be an asset. Successful track record in winning and delivering successful projects. Strong leadership skills and effective communication abilities with the ability to effectively communicate critical and technical information to varied audiences. Known and respected in the engineering consulting sector with major clients such as BC-MOTT. Can support and get directly involved in strategic and business plan development and execution. Understanding of legal and regulatory issues in the engineering consulting industry. Maintains a strategic view and focuses on long-term value. Adaptable to change and skilled in leading others through change. Challenges the status quo with a continuous improvement mindset, show a willingness to challenge management. Knows when to lead, delegate, and escalate. Skilled in prioritizing and managing competing risks to meet deadlines. Expert in collaborative work within a structured, technology-driven environment.

The salary range for this role is between $ 135,000 to $170,000. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
