Senior Project Manager/LEP

Your Opportunity 

The Project Manager and Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) position has significant career growth potential for the right person.  The candidate will work on a variety of site investigation and remediation projects, development projects with environmental concerns, Brownfields projects, due diligence assessments, LEP verifications, and EHS compliance projects in Connecticut, New England, and the eastern US.  

Your Key Responsibilities 

The position entails project management, business development and technical support on environmental projects ranging from site investigations to remediation. Some specific responsibilities include managing people and projects including soil and groundwater sampling, well installation oversight and coordination, and stormwater and waste sampling; preparation of Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments, verification reports, environmental compliance documents, remedial action plans, and various regulatory program permit applications; providing on-site EHS support at client facilities; compiling and interpreting analytical data; and coordinating and communicating effectively with clients, subcontractors, and regulators.    

Leadership

Assist in building our LEP capabilities and program in CT, by providing collaborative leadership and project management on a wide variety of environmental site cleanup, planning and permitting projects for energy, government, and private sector clients throughout New England. Provide an entrepreneurial energy to the office and pursuit of new opportunities to assist with the growth and management of a developing multi-sector office, planning and executing growth strategy and business development efforts for the future with a focus on Connecticut, site investigation, cleanup and verification, natural resources business, cross-selling the various Stantec business with a focus on all Environmental Services (ES) and US energy (wind, solar, oil and gas, electric transmission and distribution), infrastructure and/or transportation (highways, bridges, and railroad) sector clients.  Have a strong commitment to safety. Hire, train, develop, mentor, and retain staff as we grow our client base and workload.  Assist in building our capabilities, and environmental services in Greater Hartford, New Haven, and Metro NY areas, and tie in western Massachusetts and Albany business areas.  Participate and sometimes lead marketing and business development activities on a local, state, and regional level. 

Business Development 

Sustain & grow regional clients & key accounts in Connecticut, with a focus on environmental services.  Identify and win work related to environmental site cleanup and permitting projects, programs and opportunities while leveraging Stantec relationships with existing Federal, State, and private sector clients.  Assist with expanding the entire range of Stantec services in Connecticut and surrounding areas and champion an integrated services approach.  Build, develop and grow a team of high performers; recruit & retain staff within the practice with a focus on safety.  Develop in-house technical expertise, best practices, and research & development initiatives.  Actively participate in regional and national industry groups to advance the Stantec brand within the various Sectors.  

Strategic Thinking

Identify business trends and develop a long-term view of the industry, market and client base.  Assist in the growth of Stantec’s Environmental Services (ES) business in the office and service areas in New England and NY.  Anticipate medium and long-term client needs and industry dynamics. Collaborate with other Stantec offices, Sectors and disciplines outside the region.  Innovate and enhance ES’s capabilities, geographic footprint and integrated approach. Your Capabilities and Credentials Successful completion of LEP Site Verification process for at least 3-5 Sites. Strong report writing experience is required. Good client communications skills are required. Experience with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan, NYDEC regulations and related environmental regulations are a plus. OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER/up-to-date refreshers mandatory and behavior-based health and safety certifications are a plus. Experience with environmental health and safety compliance projects is a plus. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus. Valid driver's license and a good driving record is required. Willing and able to travel occasionally is a plus. Ability to sell professional services and manage multiple projects and staff is required. Education and Experience A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or Science is required. Minimum 8 years of experience is required. A Connecticut LEP license is required. Master’s degree a plus.
