Senior Property Underwriter

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced underwriter within the Chubb Bermuda International Property Division. This is a fast paced & dynamic role, focussing on excess of loss property business across a broad range of industries and territories, but predominantly US. 

This is a target driven role with a key emphasis in achieving budget through the generation new business, upholding renewal retentions, managing broker and client relationships, all whilst strictly following underwriting authority, procedures and guidelines. 

This role reports directly into the property manager and the candidate will act as a mentor to other members of the property team, be involved in developing broker and client relationships, marketing, managing exposures, underwriting across a wide variety of occupancies and territories.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Assisting the property division in achieving annual budget through the production of new business and maintaining renewal income. This will involve managing broker and client relationships with regular analysis of their interaction with Chubb Working efficiently to meet the demands of our brokers and clients and to manage and prioritise the flow of submissions. Liaising with brokers and clients face-to-face, ensuring target number of new submissions is achieved.  Be aware and focused on financial results, whilst ensuring loss activity kept to a minimum through informed selection of attachment points.  Underwriting best practice – peer reviewing all accounts prior to quoting, ensuring underwriting procedures, guidelines and authority are followed.  Managing exposures – Ensuring adequate attachment points selected, managing CAT PML exposure through RMS results / utilising CAT Mapping tools available. File management – Completion of underwriting workflow such as files, rating tool, rate movement worksheets, submission entry are all to be completed within set deadlines  Undertake general administration duties that will support the underwriting of each account and the management of exposures to the portfolio. Assisting with special projects as assigned by the property manager. Previous experience working within a property underwriting team at a level of either underwriter or senior underwriterLondon Market experience through either a Lloyd’s Syndicate or Company environment handling North American / Rest of World accounts Experience of working in a team which required the ability to prioritise multiple tasks. Customer Services experience demonstrating a professional and high standard of customer care. Showing good communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience with relationship management required.Technical ability, organisational skills, be able to apply logic and to convey a rationale when peer reviewing with another underwriterPrevious experience and familiarity with MS office packages, particularly word and excel.
