 Job Summary: 

\n

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Manager oversees the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) team at the Mt. Olive, NC facility, which processes raw and ready-to-eat turkey products. This role ensures product safety, quality, and regulatory compliances while protecting the brand from recalls and government intervention. Additionally, the Senior QA Manager drives continuous improvement, facilitates communication with the USDA personnel, and addresses customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Directs FSQA functions at the designated facility location, overseeing FSQA Managers and HACCP personnel to ensure product quality, food safety, and adequate staffing levels for daily operations.

\n

·         Conducts and participates in internal and external audits for the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Company standards.

\n

·         Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of quality, safety, and animal well-being programs.

\n

·         Leads investigations into product and process failures, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve performance and compliance.

\n

·         Addresses and resolves customer complaints, ensuring timely communication with customers and the Sales team.

\n

·         Mentors and trains indirect reports and Operations personnel on FSQA program changes, fostering continuous improvement and adherence to food safety protocols.  

\n

·         Collaborates with Production, Laboratory, Live Operations, customers, and government officials to ensure alignment on FSQA standards and initiatives.

\n

·         Facilitates the plant’s approval process for new and existing customers to ensure all requirements are met.

\n

·         Assess new processes and equipment for compliance with food safety standards, advising on improvements by leading commercialization efforts for new products, working with the Sales and corporate teams to integrate them into the facility.

\n

·          Leads various quality, safety, and cost-reduction projects, ensuring FSQA initiatives align with Company objectives.

\n

·         Participates in Senior Management meetings, contributing to overall facility performance and strategy.

\n

·         Monitors flock testing and animal care standards, ensuring compliance with animal well-being protocols and regulatory requirements.

\n

·         Oversees the facility’s FSQA department budget, balancing cost-efficiency with maintaining high food safety and quality standards.

\n

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

\n

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\n

·         Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

\n

·         Thorough understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., USDA, FDA, HACCP, FSMA).

\n

·         Familiarity with poultry food production processes, microbiology, and sanitation practices.

\n

·         Strong leadership and team management skills.

\n

·         Exceptional problem-solving, attention to details, and analytical skills for root cause analysis and corrective action.

\n

·         Ability to implement and enforce food safety and quality programs.

\n

·         Effective time management and project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.

\n

·         Capability to manage compliance with government regulations and handle regulatory affairs.

\n

·         Adeptness in driving continuous improvement and leading change initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

\n

·         Proficient with Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.), Power BI, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, and quality management systems.

\n

Education & Experience:

\n

·         Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Microbiology, or related field.

\n

·         Minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience in Quality Assurance within the food (meat/poultry) and/or beverage manufacturing industry is required.

\n

·         3+ years of experience serving as a QA Manager supervising and leading a multifaceted team of 10+ direct reports.

\n

·         Candidates possessing certifications such as HACCP, SQF, BRC, or similar is desired.

\n

Working Conditions:   

\n

·         Office and Plant work environments. Possibility of being exposed to varying conditions in the Plant setting, such as cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, loud noise levels, and other site conditions.

\n

·         Work in office environment revolves around use of telephones, personal computers, and printers.

\n

·         Physical requirements of the position may include standing, sitting, and walking for greater than 1/3 of the day and seldom to occasional lifting of less than 30 pounds.

\n

·         GMP (good manufacturing practices) are enforce; utilization of PPE (personal protective equipment) is required while out on the manufacturing floor.

\n

·         Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate facility conflicts and audit requirements.

\n

·         Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

\n
