Senior Quality Control Underwriter

ABOUT THE ROLE

CountryPlace Mortgage, a leading nationwide personal property, mortgage and commercial lender headquartered in Plano, TX, is seeking a Senior Quality Control Underwriter to help grow our Quality Control Department. This in-person role is in our Plano, TX office.  The Senior Quality Control Underwriter focuses on reviewing financial products to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in identifying potential risks, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the company’s efforts to maintain high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine quality control reviews of consumer, mortgage and commercial loan activity Conduct in-depth pre-and post-closing quality control reviews of loan applications, credit reports, underwriting decisions, disclosures, title insurance, surveys, appraisals and customer communications for all loan products Adept at calculating income, loan to value (LTV), debt to income (DTI) and reviewing credit history Develop and perform servicing reviews for consumer loans that address activities such as payment processing, escrow management, loss mitigation and delinquency handling Analyze quality control data to identify trends or defects Review the commercial borrower financials to ensure the underwriting process was thorough, including financial statement analysis, cash flow projections, and debt service coverage ratios Perform targeted audits such as survey, appraisals, and title commitments for accuracy and consistency Conduct targeted audits for commercial business such as a business search and inventory audits Assist in developing and executing testing protocols and quality plans Verify the accuracy and completeness of loan documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies Ensure audits are performed in a timely manner, following established procedures Create and maintain documentation for audits, such as checklists, reports, scorecards, and trackers Provide feedback and recommendations for improving internal processes to increase efficiency and accuracy Responsible for preparing daily, weekly, and monthly quality control report for department managers Collaborate with supervisors to address areas for improvement based on quality control results Proficiently respond to, monitor, and track written complaints, providing necessary reporting as required Perform administrative, database administration and preparation of reports as required Perform other related duties as required and assigned

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CAPABILITIES, & SKILLS: 

Strong knowledge of FHA and Fannie Mae requirements Strong knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, CFPB guidelines) and ensure that origination and servicing activities comply with these standards. Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task Strong research and critical thinking skills Good problem-solving and decision-making skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people Ability to read and interpret published rules and regulations Self-starter with strong organizational skills Self-motivated with ability to work independently Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

 

Job Requirements

BA/BS/BBA degree required in Business, Accounting, Finance or Management 5+ years’ experience in quality control (banking or financial services)
