The person hired for the position of Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for programs of major importance to the corporation’s initiatives in Interconnect products. This person will support Electronic Materials Solutions Division (EMSD)’ global products by leading design for quality initiatives, partnering with commercialization and manufacturing teams, managing supplier and outsourced manufacturing, ensuring compliance to ISO 9001 expectations, and supporting SPC reviews, raw material, and product complaint analyses.

+ Supports NPI, commercialization and manufacture of products for the global interconnect and data center markets by partnering with local and global design teams (laboratory, business, manufacturing and supply chain) and outsourced manufacturers to ensure design for quality.
+ Leads, executes and coaches on product design reviews, FMEAs, test method development, raw material specifications, customer complaint and/or 8D investigations for the purpose of error proofing processes and driving to zero defect.
+ Supports global Change Management Process (CMP) and change notification. Lead or facilitate CMP tool in PLM. Provide technical/quality support in ensuring successful change implementation.
+ Identifies product quality and continuous improvement opportunities and is efficient in making project proposals, prioritizing, collaborating and executing priority programs.
+ Provides statistics support and expertise to support quality and manufacturing initiatives.
+ Collaborates with laboratory and global manufacturing teams to assure uniform and consistent metrology through Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Round Robin correlation studies, and use of Internal Reference Materials (IRMs) as appropriate. Assists in the development of test methods and/or test method improvement, as needed.
+ Supports ISO 9001:2015 and ensures an appropriate level of compliance in Interconnect manufacturing, and outsourced manufacturers. Provides oversight for UL certifications for interconnect products.
+ Active member of the EMSD global quality team and participates in regular meetings. Creates and maintains an extensive global network of resources (quality, laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments and to share best practices.
+ Develops a portfolio of tangible and documented contributions to the local and global team through technical reports, publications and presentations.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering or STEM discipline from an accredited university.
+ Minimum of two (2) years of Manufacturing Engineering or Product Engineering with Quality responsibility in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Experience in manufacturing and quality requirements in a high-tech industry (electronics, interconnect, data center, semiconductor, medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.)
+ Experience managing supplier management and working with outsourced manufacturers.
+ Expertise in statistical insights, including design, analysis and software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
+ Experience with direct customer interactions in a high-tech industry (electronics, semiconductor, medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.)
+ Experience in new product commercialization (NPI), including stage gate reviews
+ Experience in 8D investigation, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram and/or cause map
+ Experience with Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Core Tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
+ Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management from American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)
+ Green Belt experience
Work location: Maplewood or Austin
• Hybrid (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M office in Maplewood MN at least 4 days per week)

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
