SR. QUALITY ENGINEER
DETROIT, MICHIGAN – LEAR DETROIT CONNER PLANT

 

As a member of the Quality team your primary focus as a Sr. Quality Engineer is executing product and process controls per the control plan in conjunction with the plant’s production team.  Lead 8D problem resolution process for internal and external raised concerns which includes close interaction with customer STA on the problem resolution updates.

 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

Assure that quality documentation on production floor is appropriate, meet requirements set forth on control plan, part prints and IATF 16949/ISO 14001 and assist in the maintenance of the IATF 16949/ISO 14001 systems. Perform process audits and take appropriate corrective action / follow up.  Facilitate use of Statistical Process Control on manufacturing floor.  Conduct and direct MSA activities on new gauges and precision equipment. Monitor Stellantis Supplier Portal in the system for customer quality issues & performance (coordinate responses with Quality Manager & functional Operations team members). Coordinate seat test requirements Communicate daily with customers (phone or visit).  Continuously review process to look for process improvement activities. Review Scrap data to evaluate necessary corrective action. Identify quality improvement factors. Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.

Your Qualifications:

Bachelor’s (4-year) degree. At least 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting in a Quality department. Strong communication and coordination skills. Ensure understanding and implementation of agreed quality parameters and product specific requirements. Strong understanding of statistics, problem solving, manufacturing processes, and computer experience. Understanding and use of problem-solving tools (e.g., Fishbone Diagram, 3x5Y, Is-Is-Not, 8D, etc.) It is the responsibility of the Quality Engineer to take appropriate action and to effectively communicate where necessary and observations which may impact Lear’s ability to manufacture a quality product and to achieve an on-time delivery. 

Bonus If You Have:

The ability to supervise plant quality personnel during vacation and absence periods of the Quality Supervisor. Sufficient at implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products, and production equipment.
