Job Description

The Role


We are looking for an exceptional and experience Software Quality Engineer who is excited about ensuring high quality of mobile products across General Motors. The ideal candidate is an expert in automated testing, particularly with BrowserStack, and has a deep understanding of mobile application testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cross-platform environments. This role is critical in driving our testing strategy, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring robust, scalable, and user-friendly applications.

What You'll Do

Automation Development: Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts for mobile applications using tools like BrowserStack and Selenium/Appium.Write and execute manual tests for features that cannot be automatedLeverage the Insomnia tool to perform API testing and validate the back-office integration within mobile ecosystem.Quality Assurance Leadership: Define and enforce quality standards, create test plans, and develop testing strategies for mobile app features.Cross-Platform Testing: Use BrowserStack to test across multiple devices, OS versions, and screen resolutions.Integration with CI/CD: Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality applications.Defect Tracking and Reporting: Identify, log, and track defects using tools like JIRA, and work closely with developers to resolve issues efficiently.Performance Optimization: Conduct performance testing for mobile applications, ensuring optimal performance across diverse conditions.Collaboration: Work with product managers, developers, and other QA engineers to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior QA engineers in best practices, frameworks, and tools.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on mobile applications.Proficiency in automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Browserstack, PerfectoMobile, Insomia).knowledge of app testing processes on Google Play Store, TestFlight, Firebase and Apple App Store.Proficiency with GherkinProficient developing automated tests using page object model design patternExtensive experience with BrowserStack or similar cross-platform testing tools.Experience with Test Case Management in ADO, BrowserStackStrong understanding of mobile app ecosystems, including Android and iOS environments.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.Expertise in programming/scripting languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience developing automated tests for a mobile applicationCertification in quality assuranceCertification in test automation.

This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits.  Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
