Job Description

Contributes to the execution of the department vision and strategies by identifying and executing improvement opportunities. Leads and facilitates the identification of key measures, data analysis, process improvement, and the implementation of redesigned processes for system clinical and operational functions. Develops, maintains, and provides service line scorecards and associated action plans to leadership. Consults with campus and service line teams and committees on outcomes, results, and improvement planning. Drives clinical process improvement to enhance and positively impact patient experience. Works directly with medical or surgical areas of care such as Emergency, Urgent Care, and Ambulatory Surgery.

Experience

4 years of related experience or Master’s degree and 2 years of experience in engineering, quality or patient safety; and 2 years’ experience leading and facilitating quality improvement projects from start to finish with measurable results and operational impact

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering.Master's degree in Healthcare, Business, Engineering, or related fieldCertification in facilitation, process improvement, project management, or related fieldManagement of large statistical data with proven analysis skills (e.g., clinical, operational, customer service)

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Nursing or related technical field

Certification Summary

Six Sigma Green Belt or Model for Improvement training within one year of employment

Job Responsibilities

Serves as the lead facilitator for large system-prioritized multidisciplinary teams using the. Model for Improvement methodology to define project aims, identify failure modes, and key drivers and develop and execute PDSA cycles to improve outcomes, reduce waste, increase utilization, reduce costs, improve customer satisfaction, and produce improved financial outcomes.Builds and manages scorecards and statistical process control charts to monitor and support improvement efforts.Educates and provides technical expertise to system employees and leaders in identifying key performance indicators linked and aligned with organizational strategic goals and performance targets.Communicates team recommendations effectively to senior leadership.Coaches Improvement Coordinators and Improvement Advisor team members.Facilitates delivery of basic, intermediate, and advanced quality training modules to management and staff.Develops supporting instructional materials that enhance the learning objectives.Works with other members of the team to ensure consistency and seamlessness in service experience (quality/customer service), financial, or operational performance.Facilitates large system level failure modes and effects analyses to identify and eliminate or minimize points of risks through process redesign.​Collaborates with appropriate physicians, management, and staff to obtain, document, and validate information related to assigned projects.Develops outcomes, process, and balancing metrics to assess the overall effectiveness of improvement efforts.Evaluates and implements new initiatives that assist in the achievement of system goals.Maintains professional development by expanding knowledge base of methodologies and techniques including continuous quality improvement, statistical process control, change management and project management.Participates in the achievement of organizational-directed department goals.Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and contributes to departmental achievement of financial goals.
