Summary:
The Senior R&D Prototype Technician provides technical support to engineers and scientists on a variety of technical tasks. Additionally, the Technician develops and recommends procedures and methods and prepares technical reports and documentation, and performs technical evaluations of events to determine root cause; recommends corrective action. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and analysis of prototypes for medical devices and support new product development projects and concept evaluation
What You Will Do:
Create product prototypes and test fixtures by interpreting sketches and blueprints from Engineers and Designers.Fabricate products and parts independently, ensuring prototype parts meet the needs of new product development teams.Plan and order repair or prototype components as needed to support project goals.Perform maintenance and calibration on lab equipment and prototype laboratory instrumentation.Troubleshoot test failures and collaborate with design engineers to resolve issues and optimize testing.Provide proactive updates and communication to project members and stakeholders regarding project progress and needs.Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance project services and efficiency.Comply with Stryker's 5S and Kanban practices to maintain a clean and organized work environment and contribute to improvements in design processes based on cost savings, manufacturability, and material constraints.What You Need:
Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent5+ years prior work experience as a machinist, CNC programmer, welder, welding programmer and/or related discipline.Preferred:
Familiarity with AP100, MasterCam or Pro-Engineer in order to manipulate and create .dxf files and 2D drawings.Ability to either maintain, set-up, and run manual lathes, mills, drill presses, shears, presses, saws and welders or the ability to maintain, program, set-up and operate CNC machines (mill & lathe).Basic understanding in metrology, metallurgy, pneumatics, hydraulics, molding, casting, modeling, and rapid prototyping techniques, stamping and ability to apply & adhere to safety related issues of all natures.Ability to understand and apply information represented on blueprints.Travel Percentage: 0%Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
