Location:

The Senior R&D Scientist Silica Materials is an on-site position based in Charlotte, NC with occasional domestic and internal travel to meet business needs.

 

Your Role:

This role is a product development scientist for the global silica business.  Scientist must work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment and develop good working relationships both internally and externally.  This role is part of a team that works to create novel customer focused solutions.  Creating solutions involves ideation, design, testing, scaling, and introduction.  Solutions span from new materials and technologies to improvement of existing products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create new products through the support of current customers and the development of solutions for application specific targets.Use design tools, data management, and statistical techniques to advance solution development and improve results at customers faster.Develop novel solutions for existing and new market applications with a focus on creating value by improving product efficiency and quality.Collaborate with development partners and stakeholders to solve problems and enhance product development cycle and capabilities.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, material science, or related colloidal, nanoparticle, or particle science field, or related degree area plus 5+ years’ experience in colloidal silica, related silica chemistry or related industrial chemical industry

OR

Master degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, material science, or related colloidal, nanoparticle, or particle science field, or related degree area plus 3+ years experience in colloidal silica, related silica chemistry or related industrial chemical industryKnowledge and experience working in the Semiconductor industry or similar industrial, chemical, or manufacturing industry.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of colloids, nanoparticles, and/or polymersExperience with:Colloidal silica production methods including synthesis, filtration, and characterization.Colloidal material fundamentals including stability and interactions.Chemical mechanical planarization applications and requirements.Knowledge of statistical techniques for advanced design and developmentExperience with project management and stage gate processes.Ability to perform laboratory work and interface with engineering concepts and personnel.Computer skills using statistical analysis and data management / analysis software.Well organized and self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.Able to read and/or speak French (not required but a positive for the role)
