**Who we're looking for:**
Rogers is seeking a talented and forward-thinking Senior Radio System Planner to design solutions for customer projects, with a focus on Wireless Enterprise Solutions and LAN/WAN integration. This role primarily involves overseeing complex wireless projects deployment, but also provides opportunities for growth and variety based on your skills and initiative. You will be key in designing and implementing LAN integration for private LTE/5G solutions for Rogers' industrial and mining customers.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Advanced Service Architecture & Integration, you will offer technical expertise in Wireless Private Network Solutions, specifically targeting enterprise IoT customers.
As a successful candidate, you will be a vital part of the Rogers Business Customer Solutions team, helping bring solutions to life and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will have the chance to expand your knowledge, tackle challenges creatively, and influence the future of business as Rogers rolls out new and innovative products.
**What you'll be doing...**
+ New Technology Trials and New Product Introductions into the Wireless Private Network.
+ Lab and Field validation of the next generation Wireless Technologies (ie. 5G NSA/SA, CloudRAN/ORAN, 5G IoT/RedCAP, etc.).
+ Utilize a wide range of RAN skills, including 5G, 5G-NR, 5G-NSA, LTE, vRAN, Open RAN, MORAN, MOCN, and wireless private network (WPN).
+ Design (HLD and LLD), development, and deployment of private 4G/5G wireless systems, ensuring alignment with diverse customer requirements and project timelines.
+ Lead radio access network engineering activities, including configuration, commissioning, and integration, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.
+ Deliver Core Network elements, specializing in Nokia Core (CMU, APC, CMM, CMG) for enterprise environment. Implement scalable, high-availability private wireless 4G networks.
+ Analyze deep traces, logs, and Wireshark outputs to perform in-depth packet inspections for network troubleshooting.
+ Manage projects from initial planning stages, design, integration to final deployment.
+ Work with industry leading network and handset OEM Vendors.
**What You Bring...**
+ Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience required
+ 4-8 years of experience with RAN and wireless technology
+ Strong technical skills to lead technical projects as a Nokia RAN expert
+ CCNA Routing and Switching
+ LTE Air Interface & Signalling Procedure Certificate
+ Knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud native workloads
+ Excellent planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ In-depth knowledge of 5G NR & LTE networks, including 3GPP specifications, with a strong focus on RAN features, optimization, air interface parameters, radio resource management, and signaling.
+ Solid foundation in communications theory and RF principles, with extensive knowledge of wireless technologies spanning 2G/3G/4G/5G.
+ Deep understanding of RAN KPIs, counters, and optimization parameters, as well as their impact on network performance and capacity.
+ Expertise in RAN hardware configurations (eNB/gNB, Radios) and experience with parameter changes and radio feature testing (preferably on Nokia platforms).
+ Hands-on experience in performance management, RF optimization, and capacity planning for LTE & 5G networks.
+ Experience working with RAN vendors like Nokia Airscale (AMIA, ASIA, ABIA).
+ Expertise in Core technologies such as EPC, MME, HSS, PCRF, SGW, PGW, and Nokia CMU (CMG, CMM, APC) during deployments.
+ Strong IP skills in routing and switching, with experience working with NMS vendors like Nokia (NSP, MantaRay/NetAct).
+ Proven experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex RAN network solutions.
+ Proficiency with one or more scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or shell.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a creative and innovative approach to challenges.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to independently research new network concepts and develop simulation/test criteria to assess performance and evaluate impact.
+ Strong teamwork abilities, capable of leading and contributing to project teams.
+ Keeping up to date with emerging network systems technologies, architectures, and products, maintaining broad technical knowledge.
