Basic function and scope of responsibilities
Proactively leads all tasks related to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety during the concept, design, construction, operation, or maintenance of phases of projects of commuter, light, and heavy rail transit systems. Must have a strong technical capability in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety analysis methods, and excellent communication skills with the ability to independently perform a variety of RAMS-related activities for the rail transportation industry. Delivers innovative, technical work to a schedule and plan, while achieving time, quality, and cost targets, as part of our multi-discipline teams or on behalf of our clients in project teams. Takes on and leads a broad range of systems engineering activities and plans work packages using project management methods.
Principal Responsibilities and essential functions
Defines corporate RAMS plans at project or agency level. Interfaces with clients Executes and manages the teams delivering the RAMS plan for green-field and brown-field developments. Establishes processes related to RAMS using industry best practices. Specifies RAMS metrics, key performance indicators, and RAMS targets, for electronic, electro-mechanical, and train-based systems. Acts as the subject-matter expert and trusted advisor in all matters related to RAMS for Gannett Fleming’s clients. Performs System Hazard Analysis, Operating and Support Hazard Analysis, and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis on several different systems. Supports the continuous development of RAMS activities for ongoing projects. Supports the technical consultancy on RAMS, integration, validation & verification, and other related system engineering activities. Applies best practice systems engineering techniques to support pursuit of work in the region. Extracts technical and functional requirements from tender documents to create RAMS requirements. Follows company, safety, quality, environmental, commercial, and project management procedures as relevant to tasks undertaken. Mentors, coaches, and develops staff to assists them with achieving their full potential within the needs of Gannett Fleming. Education | Experience:Education and Licensing requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. Professional Engineer Designation in Ontario or equivalent.
Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or experience
Proven experience working with the CENELEC EN 50126 family of standards. 25+ years of experience applying RAMS techniques to rail projects. Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units. Team player, able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Experienced leader, able to lead a team of junior and intermediate specialists through all RAMS activities. Experience in a project environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Additional Notes
Other duties may be assigned. Generally, office work environment. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site.
