**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
Devises and conducts data analyses to identify and solve business problems. Builds models to increase efficiency and provide business intelligence.
+ Performs analyses, evaluations, and determinations relating to insurance rates, rating plans, programs, classifications, rules, and other aspects of multiple lines of business and coverages.
+ Presents results, which may include recommendations, to department and line of business leaders to support strategic decision-making.
+ Constructs models using Excel, VBA, SQL, and other tools to save time, provide functionality, or give others easy access to business information.
+ Creates exhibits from analyses and/or models to be used in filings and/or regulatory correspondence. Oversees the creation of the correspondence to ensure accurate representation of results.
+ Manages current processes and modifies as needed to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Leads the filing preparation and objection response needs of the Actuarial Department. Ensures that the company’s rates, rating plans, and rules meet each state’s regulatory requirements for all lines of business and all programs.
+ Possesses superior knowledge of insurance rating, rate regulation, and filing requirements by line of business on a state-by-state basis; quickly locates state regulations, insurance codes, and insurance department websites; utilizes bureau resources (NCCI, WCIRB, NYCIRB, etc.) and others (e.g., IRMI) to collect information. Catalogs sources and trains others on their use.
+ Understands and trains others on concepts used in filings, including loss cost, development, & ratio; rate; loss cost multiplier; on-leveling premium or loss; trend; internal rate of return model; loss development (experience) method; rationale underlying our LCMF indication; standard vs. net premium; differences between calendar, accident, and policy year data aggregation for premium and loss and how each is used; premium algorithms by line of business and state; etc.
+ Analyzes a state before filing, considering competitor filings as well as their financial results, bureau filings/indications, internal indications and input from Underwriting and Product Management.
+ Completes the most complex state filings (e.g., CA, IQ, new programs, CA Prop 103); mentors other Rate Analysts and reviews their work.
+ Leads the development of any necessary written responses to regulatory objections. Directs others as needed and reviews final responses.
+ Creates and reviews the associated rate tables for every rate or loss cost filing.
Manages assigned projects, builds knowledge base, and mentors junior team members.
+ Organizes, prioritizes, and completes multiple projects concurrently, on time and within scope.
+ Keeps stakeholders regularly informed of project status.
+ Researches, develops, and applies new analytic tools and methods to improve our products and services.
+ Provides training and guidance to team members. Efficiently reviews others’ work and provides valuable feedback.
+ Builds positive, collaborative working relationships with peers and leaders across the organization.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
+ Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college required with a major in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or similar technical or business-related field.
+ Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Rate Analyst, or an equivalent position responsible for data collection, rate analysis, preparing and reviewing insurance rate filings for accuracy and regulatory compliance required. Additional education may be considered along with experience.
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
+ Expertise with Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic programming.
+ SQL programming proficiency.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical materials including rate and rule filings, bureau circulars, insurance regulations, and actuarial analyses.
+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, filing memos, and technical documentation.
+ Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities and workloads.
+ Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent assignments and responsibilities. Self-starting, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team.
+ Data querying and manipulation skills within an analytic role.
+ Ability to learn to use new tools within established and new processes.
+ Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, reason logically, and draw valid conclusions.

The current range for this position is
$67,410.89 - $113,683.84
This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
