Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Counsel-Real Estate, you will work on a team of 16 located in Calabasas Hills, CA. As the Senior Real Estate Paralegal, your core focus will be supporting new lease projects and growth across the country. Accordingly you will assist the real estate attorneys: (i) in supporting growth across all restaurant brands by performing due diligence, documenting and monitoring the leasing process, (ii) with drafting/reviewing lease renewals, amendments, SNDAs, estoppels, and similar agreements (iii) in supporting (in cooperation with our lease administration manager) the renewal process, co-tenancy covenants, estoppel/SNDA processing, and (iv) in supporting the portfolio/asset lease management for all Company’s restaurants.

Here’s more of what you’ll get to do:

Partner with real estate counsel in support of new lease projects and growth in all restaurant concepts necessary to achieve company targets and goals.Review title reports, surveys, reciprocal easement agreements, operating agreements, CC&Rs and other title encumbrances, and other due diligence materials.Prepare final lease documents (including exhibits and supporting materials) for execution and track post-closing documents and arrange for issuance of title policies as needed.Review leases, and review/draft amendments, renewals, and other real estate driven legal documents. Partner with real estate counsel in managing real estate legal matters related to the Company and establish new processes and policies as we evolve.Assist real estate asset manager with preparation of estoppel certificates and SNDAs.Assist Operations and other departments with specific lease-related inquiries. Assist in maintaining hard copy office files and computerized lease database system for leases and related real property agreements (currently Lucernex).Other duties and special real estate projects as assigned.
What we require:

Bachelor's degree ABA-approved paralegal certificate 7+ years of corporate or commercial real estate experience as a paralegal, including review and interpretation of leases and other key agreements (e.g. amendments, renewals, estoppels, non-disturbance agreements and vendor contracts)Self-starter; ability and willingness to take initiative, ownership, and accountability in getting things done (within a supportive team environment).Highly computer literate; strong skills in MS Word, Outlook, and ExcelExcellent verbal and written skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone, email and other written correspondenceSuperb proofreading and organizational skills, highly detail orientedExcellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines and work well in a high energy environment while maintaining a professional attitudeAbility to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

 

What we prefer:

 

Corporate or commercial real estate experience (in-house or major law firm) as a paralegal with focus on real estate leasing (preferably retail tenant side, but not required) including experience with percentage rentFamiliarity or experience with asset management software (e.g. Lucernex)
