Senior Regional Counsel - Americas
Job Description

In support of the Head of Legal - Americas and Renishaw’s global compliance group, the Senior Regional Counsel – Americas will be actively involved in a wide array of legal and compliance matters and projects throughout Renishaw’s Americas region (including the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil).  The position will be based in West Dundee, IL, will report to the Head of Legal – Americas, and will require occasional international travel (approximately 10%).    

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Review, draft, and negotiate standard terms and conditions, commercial and other contracts, including purchase agreements, leases, and NDAs with customers, sales intermediaries, strategic partners and suppliers.  Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders (including the company’s Commercial Manager) to process contracts efficiently and in accordance with business policy.Support the business’ efforts to respond to various “requests for information” from third parties.Evaluate business operations and control processes, identify “best practices,” and design programs to improve those processes.Support the design and implementation (in coordination with colleagues in the UK and other regions) of compliance programs, policies, and procedures in the Americas region.Ensure business compliance with legal and regulatory obligations in the Americas.  Mitigate legal and compliance risks.  Provide advice on legal and regulatory developments potentially impacting Renishaw’s businesses in the Americas. Assist with internal and external audit reviews or assessments, including risk or control concerns identified by auditors or management.Prepare, manage, and conduct training programs, both in-person and virtually.Maintain a high level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a commitment to promoting a culture of ethical behavior and compliance. Lead cross-functional teams in business change projects that support the business’ key objectives across multiple disciplines.Build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business to help influence and implement business strategy and direction.Support and deputize as required for the Head of Legal – Americas.Other duties and projects, as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:  Required

Juris Doctor degree, license to practice law in Illinois, with 10+ years of relevant experience in delivering pragmatic legal and compliance advice in a demanding and ever-changing business environment.Experience with implementing compliance programs, including “know your customer,” antibribery, export controls/sanctions/ITAR, healthcare, government contracting, cybersecurity, data protection/privacy and/or antitrust.This position may require the use of, and access to, ITAR controlled data.  The applicant must demonstrate eligibility to use and access such ITAR controlled data.  The purpose of this requirement is to ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws.Have experience reviewing and advising on general commercial agreements including standard terms and conditions, master services agreements, support and maintenance agreements, purchase contracts and distribution agreements.Have in-house experience in an international setting or be able to display a deep understanding of the challenges of a global industrial business.

Education and Experience:  Preferred

Bilingual proficiency with Spanish and/or Portuguese.Experience with international legal and compliance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Experience in project management with the ability to identify compliance risks and develop appropriate strategies for mitigation.Clear organization, time management, and complex decision-making experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with varying levels of stakeholders (including senior management, field staff, and global legal and compliance departments), with the ability to effectively engage and influence at all levels of the organization.Ability to work under pressure, autonomously, and meet challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong leadership skills, impeccable integrity and the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.An appetite to continually learn and share knowledge and experience.Excellent attention to detail.Advanced MS Word and Excel skills.

Annual Base Salary

In the range of $175,000.In an effort to comply with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates regarding cash compensation, Renishaw sets standard pay ranges for all U.S.-based roles as established by job function, level, and geographic location.  Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, as well as geographic location, and may vary from the amount and range listed above.
