The role is based in a fulfillment center where we handle a rapid turnover of goods, picking, packing and shipping products.
As a Sr Regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, you are responsible for the regional occupational safety departments at our Sortation centers across Germany. You work closely with local management to continuously improve local occupational health and safety standards and coordinate the implementation of internal company and legal requirements for occupational health and safety.
Key job responsibilities
• Oversee safety performance metrics reporting and communication
• Assist general managers in communication, training, and execution of the WHS Programs throughout the region’s sites
• Ensure compliance to EU and Country law as it applies to Occupational Safety for all relevant locations
• Conduct systematic safety gap assessments to prioritize facility improvements and optimize budget allocation, while actively incorporating employee feedback for continuous safety enhancements
• Develop and implement training programs to exceed the needs of Managers and Associates in regards to critical safety issues
• Analyze accident data and build prevention programs to impact accident trends
• Review Standard Operating Procedure changes and make Safety recommendations
• Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis
• Interact with Workers Compensation third-party administrators in carrying out claims management
• Applying Lean tools to Safety: error-proof processes, analyze Safety trends and create proactive plans to address – develop analytical, dashboard performance approach to safety management
• Maintain communication with legislation bodies and accident insurers as well as Operational directors and General Managers
• Lead a team of WHS Managers, including performance driven issue and consult with works councils, safety committees as required
A day in the life
This is an extremely varied role based at one of our sites, allowing you to directly lead the strategic direction of our safety function. You will manage health and safety standards while improving functionality and efficiency. You’ll also manage your team and help them implement changes in response to employee feedback or seize opportunities to continuously make process improvements.
Your role is instrumental in keeping employees safe, managing their satisfaction, and setting direction for wellbeing and productivity. You’ll step in and take ownership of health and safety to foster a culture that revolves around operating safely. Additionally, leading and contributing to German as well as Europe-wide projects on compliance, standardization, and continuous safety improvements across our different businesses.

No matter what your role is, you’ll play a part in developing, implementing and upholding our high safety and wellbeing standards. You could work on a variety of projects alongside colleagues from across the business, ranging from equipment and process inspections to assessing processes, building and equipment design
Basic Qualifications
• A Bachelor degree or equivalent level of qualification in line with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and “Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit” certification
• Relevant experience managing a team
• Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities, workload and European travel
• Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and German
• Credibility and be able to effectively engage and influence other functional leaders and their teams, to build buy-in to EU WHS strategies and change processes
• Used to operating at all levels of the organization from warehouse floor to board level
• An in-depth understanding of essential/relevant EU H&S legislation
• Demonstrable record of driving significant changes through operations
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies
• Qualifications or experience in the field of sustainability
• Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership
