Jacobson State Veterans' Nursing Home Port Charlotte, Charlotte County Annual salary: $70,699.20 Paid Bi-weekly **Multiple positions/shifts are available. All SRNS' working 2nd or 3rd shift will be eligible for $1.00/hr. shift differential** Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation ‎plan. From funds available, new employees as well as returning employees that have been separated from the Agency for a period of twelve (12) months or more may be ‎eligible for a sign-on bonus of $3,500. This amount will be paid out over a one year period at 6-month intervals. Any employee leaving employment with the agency or moving to OPS prior to that timeframe will forfeit any additional bonus reimbursement. There is no guarantee of payment unless you ‎complete the term of employment. If you leave prior to completion of the term, you are ‎owed nothing by the Agency, and the recoupment of any previously paid bonus amount ‎will be at the Agency’s discretion. The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program + From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years. + Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender. + Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds. Minimum Qualifications: + Must have a current Florida Registered Nursing License + Must have a current CPR Card + Must have supervisory nursing experience + Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word) + Successful completion of the due diligence process, to include not limited to, a Level II background screen and drug screen Preferred Qualifications: + Experience in a long-term health care environment (assisted living facility, nursing home, skilled nursing facility) + Experience in staff development / staff education Duties and Responsibilities: Incumbent reports to the Director of Nursing and will provide quality professional care to our American Heroes to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. + Responsible for administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status, and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA and other Health Care + Ensure that the nursing personnel are following their job descriptions and that the residents are receiving total nursing care + Receive notices of absences when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents + Notify the Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building + Make daily rounds to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met + Observe all nursing staff giving care at least once during an eight-hour shift + Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department + Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations + Assist in review of policies and procedures + Ensure that reference material at the nurses’ stations is current + Make recommendations to DON for improved and/or additional items + Review and follow-up incidents and/or complaints occurring on assigned tour of duty. Complete reports and forward to DON + Will give Basic Life Support (CPR) when necessary + Assist DON in ensuring that all assessments are completed prior to the Interdisciplinary Resident Care Plan Committee meeting + Check all documentation related to assessment for those residents scheduled for IDT + Ensure that any incomplete documentation is finished within twenty-four (24) hours of a scheduled IDT Conference + Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner + Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents such as cardiac arrest + Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment + Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development and in overall quality improvement programs + Perform other related duties, including special projects, as assigned This position is in the Career Service system.
