The Senior Reinsurance Expert will be responsible for guiding and influencing key stakeholders, shaping the reinsurance strategy, and ensuring the overall success of reinsurance activities within Allianz Commercial.
The Impact You Will Have
• Reporting to the Head of Treaty Reinsurance, you will play a critical role in shaping the reinsurance strategy and driving its implementation as well as lead and oversee the management and coordination of reinsurance purchasing within Allianz Commercial for Long Tail lines.
• You will serve as the primary reinsurance liaison, guiding them through the renewal process. You will be instrumental in developing metrics and processes to evaluate each treaty placed by Allianz Commercial.
• The Allianz Commercial Treaty Department forms a part of the wider Chief Group Reinsurance Office Team with the Chief Group Reinsurance Officer at Allianz Re.
• Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
• Leading regular meetings with the liaisons of the lines of business Liability and Financial Lines to discuss open topics and next steps as well as coordinating and attending regular meetings with reinsurers and brokers throughout the year.
• Managing the renewal process in time and scope including all correspondence with external partners (reinsurers and brokers) on topics related to the responsible lines of business, including treaties, cash flow, claims, and more.
• Collecting all relevant information from various departments (CUO, Claims, Planning, etc.) to prepare the renewal submission for the responsible lines of business
• Maintaining and updating the treaty master list/database.
• Ensuring the timely and correct setup and updating of overview sheets, double-checking, and monitoring system entries (Global Genius).
• Regularly participating in Quarterly Claims Reserve meetings.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
• A university degree in Mathematics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, or another area that involves a strong focus on quantitative analysis.
• Ideally a relevant professional insurance qualification.
• Significant experience in a reinsurance position, demonstrating a deep understanding of reinsurance practices.
• Expert knowledge of reinsurance instruments, underlying business, and actuarial/risk capital requirements.
• A technical and practical background in one industrial insurance Line of Business (LoB), along with a general understanding of all major LoBs and a robust understanding of actuarial principles and practices.
• Proven experience working in an international environment.
• Advanced contract drafting and interpretation skills.
• The ability to manage the reinsurance portfolio, analyse trends, and develop scenario plans.
• Strong skills in evaluating the risk-reward effects of reinsurance, such as its impact on the P&L and capital position of the company.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to positively influence key strategic stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills.
