WNCT-TV in Greenville, NC, is seeking a Senior Reporter/Anchor to join our news team. We are looking for an authentic, dynamic, engaging talent who can connect with an audience on all platforms. The ideal candidate will have solid news judgment, strong anchoring and reporting skills, and the ability to tell memorable stories. You should be able to produce hard-hitting, enterprising, and investigative stories. The ideal candidate will also be an anchor who thrives on bringing value to our local audience, drives important and breaking news, and pitches good local enterprise stories and produces frequent in-depth reporting. We are looking for a newsroom leader who is a self-starter, a good newsroom citizen and an advocate for the target viewer.
Conversational anchor skills, ability to adlib with ease and connect audiences through professionalism and personality.
Candidate will excel in breaking news – in studio and live in the field.
Develops contacts to confirm information and seeks out interview subjects.
Reviews viewer news tips, researches potential stories, and produces investigative stories.
Ability to cover “day-of” news stories, as assigned.
Ability to perform strong, interactive live shots.
Ability to edit news stories utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Ability to anchor regular newscasts.
Fill-in as anchor on other newscasts when necessary.
Must have good time management skills and be able to anchor and report every shift.
Reviews assigned newscast scripts to ensure accuracy.
Works with producers and writers to improve newscasts.
Engage with audience on all relevant social media platforms.
Represents station at public events.
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1-2 years of on-air reporting experience with some anchoring experience desired.
Interest in in-depth/investigative reporting.
Proven track record of leadership inside a newsroom.
Strong journalistic ethics.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and work a flexible schedule.
Degree in Journalism or related field.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
