As a Senior Research Chemist, you will be responsible for developing aerospace sealants and adhesives products. You will also assist with the scale-up, qualification, and commercialization of these materials. This position reports to the Product Development Manager and is located in our Aerospace Materials Science & Technology Center, Burbank, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the marketing team and customers to identify gaps in our current product offerings and / or future product needs. Translate the gaps and needs into product design criteria and specificationsDevelop technical domain expertise - develop detailed knowledge regarding competitive products, intellectual property, literature - and on that basis develop technical plans for product developmentDrive product development based on sound scientific and statistical methodologies .Manage project timelines and deliverables, including project management, capturing updates, meeting internally and externally, and reporting. Supervise and mentor junior team members to execute on design, including formulation and testing.Qualifications:
A Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering or Materials Chemistry or Polymer Science and Engineering is required3+ years of industrial or academic experience in the field of sealants, adhesives, composites, epoxy, or coatings is requiredThe ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of structure-function relationships as relevant to polymer composite materials, as well as the ability to engineer and design these materials to meet customer requirementsMust be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.Salary Range $120,000-$140,000 plus annual bonus
