Are you interested in advanced thermal and mechanical systems for next-generation aircraft? Have you thought about highly efficient, lightweight, and more sustainable aircraft solutions? Well, that's exactly what we are working on here at Collins Aerospace.

As an Aerothermal Modeling Engineer, you will use your technical expertise to model and analyze aerothermal fluids for aircraft subsystems and systems. You are expected to have thorough knowledge in the fields of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) (e.g., RANS, URANS, LES, DES methods). Additionally, a broad understanding of related disciplines such as fluid-structure interaction, phase change, noise, and chemical reactions is required. You will apply your knowledge of aerothermal fluid analysis to solve technical problems. You will be responsible for the preliminary and detailed analysis of aircraft thermal and mechanical systems.

This role is part of an international team of talented and passionate experts in Thermo-Mechanical Systems. You will join a global community of researchers who are influencing and developing industry-changing technology. You will achieve this through a combination of theoretical analysis, modeling, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.

What YOU will do:

Perform aerothermal modeling and analysis for internal and external flows of aircraft subsystems and systems. Provide insights and understanding of the modeling results and propose optimized solutions.Use CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, and others to conduct fluid, thermal, fluid-structure interactions, conjugate heat transfer, and reacting flow simulations.Utilize Python, MATLAB, or other tools to develop low-fidelity models that allow for quick assessment of technical solutions for thermal mechanical systems.Engage in creative thinking to generate innovative concepts in the aforementioned areas.

Develop and successfully execute related technology research plans.

What YOU will learn:

Gain exposure to research that will enhance your technical expertise and professional development.Partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations to maximize the impact of your work.

Education & Experience:

Requires a degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. An MS with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Skills we value:

An applied background in aerospace systems and architecture is a plus.Experience with aerospace regulations and certification standards.
