Senior Research in AI and Manufacturing - Summer Internship
Siemens Foundational Technology (FT), the central R&D department of Siemens, plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. Acting as a strategic partner, FT supports Siemens' executive units with a primary research focus on future technologies for industry, infrastructure, mobility, and healthcare.
The Senior Research Intern in AI and Manufacturing will be instrumental in advancing our AI-driven manufacturing research. This position is crucial for developing innovative solutions that enhance manufacturing planning, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. You will collaborate with the research team at Siemens Foundational Technology in Princeton, NJ.
In this role you will work on-site in Princeton, NJ. The position is a full-time position for at least 3 months and remote work is not available.
Key Responsibilities:Conduct research and development in AI and machine learning applications for manufacturing.Collaborate with senior researchers to design and implement AI models and algorithms.Create and analyze large design and manufacturing datasets to identify patterns and insights that drive process planning improvements.Develop and test prototypes to validate AI solutions in real-world manufacturing.Document research findings and present results.
Education and Experience:Required:• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.• Strong background in Manufacturing, AI, machine learning, and data analysis.• Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, R, or MATLAB.Preferred:• Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.• Publications or research projects related to AI in manufacturing.
Basic Qualifications:Adept in manufacturing planning, AI and machine learning techniques.Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or MATLAB.Experience with Geometry Representations and CAD API programming, including C++ and Parasolid.Proficiency in English both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills:Proven analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Familiar with manufacturing processes and industrial automation.Experience with various Neural Network encodings such as Graph Neural Networks.Knowledge of geometric representations, B-Rep, Voxels, CSG, Implicit, Design by Code, etc.Statistical methods and data visualization techniques.Organizational and project management skills. The pay range for this position is $36.00-$45.00 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
