Responsibilities
The Senior Research Specialist position will be jointly situated in the Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research (https://tangcenter.uchicago.edu) and Molecular Oncology Laboratory (https://www.boneandcancer.org/).Familiar with in vitro and in vivo experiments with biological techniques, such as in vitro stem cell and/or cancer cell culture and observations, western blot, and in vivo mouse study. Animal work experience preferred.Following protocols, designs, sets up and conducts basic experiments.Analyzes and troubleshoots protocols and data obtained from individual experiments and recommends alternatives and suggestions to improve processes, validity and/or accuracy.Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting and entering data.Manipulates, interprets and/or presents results, prepares charts and graphs for presentations and publications.Performs scientific literature searches in support of research.Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.Performs other related work as needed.
