Responsibilities

Independently sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals and grant commitments (e.g. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.). Contributes to the planning, design and modification of studies and experiments in the research lab setting. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters, summarizes, and analyzes data. May oversee and assist with the training of residents, fellows and temporary lab personnel in lab techniques. Works with minimal supervision and performs assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.

Additional Information:

As a hybrid role, this is a work arrangement that supports a combination of offsite (remote) and on-site work according to business needs.  On-site expectations are determined by the supervisor and will be discussed during the interview.



Qualifications

Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science with 4 years of research laboratory experience. 
Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science preferred.

Additional Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

1. Organization:

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail in experimental setup, data recording, and sample storage.

• Experience maintaining accurate and comprehensive lab records while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.

2. Leadership:

• Ability to mentor and train junior technicians, students, or new team members.

• Experience coordinating team-based lab activities, setting clear objectives, and delegating tasks appropriately.

• Proactive problem-solving and decision-making to improve workflow and ensure project deadlines are met.

3. Communication:

• Clear written and verbal communication skills for protocol documentation and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.

• Experience presenting data and findings to colleagues, supervisors, or at lab meetings.

• Proficiency in preparing reports, contributing to publications, and documenting study outcomes.

4. Tissue Processing:

• Expertise in tissue processing for RNA and DNA sequencing using both FFPE and Fresh/Frozen tissue.

• Proficiency in Genomics and Transcriptomics quality control (QC).

• Preferred experience in tissue preparation for single-cell and spatial omics workflows, particularly using FFPE samples.

• Proficiency in tissue collection, fixation, embedding, sectioning, and imaging.

• Advanced skills in histological techniques such as H&E staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and other staining methods.

• Preferred experience conducting ex-vivo experiments for drug interventions in fresh tissue, including basic drug assays.

• Familiarity with sample preservation methods, sterile techniques, and biohazard safety protocols.

5. Preferred Informatics Experience:

• Basic understanding of bioinformatics tools and data management workflows.

• Experience with data analysis software such as Excel, R, or Python for processing and interpreting experimental data.

• Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

• Preferred familiarity with the conduct and analysis of data using the Nanostring platform.

6. Preferred Experience with Microsoft 365 Co-Pilot Suite:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Teams for effective team communication and collaboration.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Lists for tracking and managing projects, experiments, and sample inventories.

• Experience using Microsoft Planner to organize tasks, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress in research projects.

• Ability to leverage the Microsoft 365 Co-Pilot suite for workflow optimization and streamlined data sharing.

7. Preferred Experience with REDCap:

• Knowledge of designing and managing data collection forms in REDCap.

• Familiarity with data entry, export, and reporting tools within REDCap for clinical or research studies.

• Experience ensuring compliance with data security protocols and IRB standards when using REDCap.
