Senior Risk Control Consultant, Equipment Breakdown

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Risk Control Consultant to join our growing team! This position will manage Equipment Breakdown risk control.

As a Senior Risk Control Consultant, your work will have a big impact on consulting with clients, contractors, insurance brokers and engineers on loss prevention and risk control matters. People will count on you to identify, evaluate, and quantify various risk factors (e.g. equipment breakdown direct damage, business interruption, spoilage and ammonia contamination) and create a risk improvement recommendation aimed to help our clients manage their exposure to losses and improve their risk management programs.

What you’ll do here:

Proactively identifying opportunities to better serve clients by delivering innovative services and solutions through the field Risk Control services, including EBI site surveys, remote assessment, desktop review, and claim investigation;

Developing, implementing and championing the required Risk Control client service focus by understanding clients’ needs and cultivating trusting relationships with clients and Intact partners;

Ensure a high-quality service for our clients and partners through Risk Control related consultations and develop and implement industry risk control best practices;

Collaborate with members of national Risk Control teams to ensure that our guidelines and high-quality service standards are current and well implemented;

Providing insurance support via Loss Prevention Reports, outlining recommendations for improvement; prepare loss expectancies and presentation of the risk to insurers on an as required basis;

Provide support to corporate and regional underwriting, marketing and claims teams by preparing reports, conducting reviews, and risk control assessment.

Qualified to be an inspector for performing jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in Ontario;

Fostering and motivating a collaborative team culture across groups, units and teams with our Risk Control colleagues and Intact Partners;

Participate in continuous learning and development activities in order to improve oneself and share the knowledge with colleagues and clients via assessments or training seminars

Support management efforts for service improvements;

Perform other related responsibilities as directed.
 

What you bring to the table:

Minimum five (5) years of progressive industrial experience in engineering, inspection, power operation, operation or maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels and machinery, or EBI insurance

Knowledge and experience in Equipment Breakdown risk control

Knowledge of ASME Codes and TSSA regulations in boilers and pressure vessels

Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment breakdown damage mechanism

Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making capabilities

Clients focused with strong relationship building skills

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Strong learning, adaptation, and coaching skills

Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, agility, and the ability to work under minimal supervision

Continue to inform and educate the Risk Control team and management the latest industry trend and new technology

Degree in engineering, technical engineering, related sciences preferred or equivalent experience

Prefer to have NB IS commission and TSSA Certificate of Competency for boiler and pressure vessel inspection

Experience in review and analysis of third-party Risk Control and Engineering reports, an asset

CIP and CRM designation, an asset

Professional Engineer designation, a definite asset

Fluently bilingual (English/French), an asset

Experience in review and analysis of third-party Risk Control and Engineering reports, an asset

Possession of a valid drivers license in good standing
