To use proven industry knowledge and technical insight, working alongside internal Power & Renewables stakeholders to assist in the making of evidence based supported underwriting decisions, and in turn playing a key role in The Hartford’s stated aim to underwrite human achievement and to be the Insurer of the Transition.
Role will report directly to the Chief Risk Engineer, Marine & Energy International, with daily Operational Core Activity under the direction of Power & Renewables Underwriter (s)
Role will work in close co-operation with Underwriting and Claims team colleagues in London, with regular liaison with Risk Engineering specialists in the USA Risk Engineering Team
Job Responsibilities & Competence
Reviewing and assessing technical underwriting information provided by placing brokers and clients to inform Power & Renewables underwriters primarily writing Property Damage (Operational & Construction)and BI/DSU, but could also include for other coverage such as Liability and CyberEnhancing existing tools for the structured appraisal of risk for Power & Renewables, including quantification of exposures and the assessment of risk qualitySupporting Chief Risk Engineer in technology development assessment, emerging risks analysis and strategic development of Risk Engineering functionAssisting Power & Renewables claims professionals during the claims management and adjustment process, supporting internal Lessons Learned processesUsing both internal and third party data to improve knowledge of business sector risks and causes of lossAttending client facility visits in both a lead and assist role and writing or contributing to market survey reports, and where appropriate providing risk management services directly to clientsLiaising and knowledge sharing with Hartford Risk Engineering practitioners within other business unitsWorking alongside wider colleague groups, including actuaries, claims personnel, data analysts, IT, risk management and exposure management representatives to integrate risk engineering knowledge in processes to enhance reporting and decision-making.Participating and contributing to technically focused insurance market committees and associationsSpeaking at conferences and writing articles on risk and insurance within the Power & Renewables sectorSupporting professional development of colleagues through sharing knowledge and offering support, guidance and coaching skillsPursuing own professional development with technical training, further education, and professional body progressionQualifications & Capabilities
