PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES 

 

As one of the integral elements of SAP's corporate governance & compliance framework, Global Risk & Assurance Services (GR&AS) is mandated to perform internal audits, risk assessments and internal control assessments on behalf of SAP’s CEO, CFO, Executive Board, and the Audit Committee. GR&AS provides assurance and transparency to SAP’s stakeholders about the overall financial, strategic, and operational health of the enterprise and its ability to be a best-run, resilient and sustainable business.  

 

The Field Risk Management (FRM) Organization with its Risk Managers systematically identifies, assesses, manages, and monitors risks in the context of sales and services activities. The goal is to protect SAP from financial exposure, harm of SAP’s reputation, or negative impact on customers’ trust. Risk Management creates risk awareness within the company and enables the business in informed decision- making, to successfully achieve the company’s goals as well as to ensure customer satisfaction. 

 

The "Risk Senior Specialist" role within the Field Risk Management Organization at GR&AS involves overseeing and managing risk in SAP sales and services activities. This includes identifying and addressing potential risks that could affect the profitability and reputation of the organization. The role also involves supporting customers in successful SAP implementations by ensuring that risks are minimized and managed effectively. This may involve working closely with sales and service teams to develop risk mitigation strategies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting best practices for risk management within the organization. The "Risk Senior Specialist" plays a crucial role in safeguarding the success of SAP projects and maintaining positive relationships with customers. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a strong understanding of the sales process and service bid lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of various customer industries including consulting, pre-sales, and support functions. This role requires expertise in navigating the sales process, managing service bids, and understanding the needs of diverse customer industries. A sound understanding of these areas is key for success in this position. 

 

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS 

Perform risk assessments with medium to high complexity 

Ensure adherence to global risk management processes, guidelines, and policies 

Provide high quality support to the business to ensure that risks are properly identified and managed 

Plan, organize, execute, and coordinate risk management activities 

Conduct risk assessments for all risk relevant activities with focus on the sales and consulting Lines of Business for both Cloud and On-Premise solutions, as well as country and Market Unit risk assessments for the local management team, incl. legal, tax, general, and operational risks 

Facilitate cross unit collaboration in risk management and risk mitigation 

Manage ongoing communication, issues resolution, and information-sharing with all relevant risk management stakeholders to ensure complete, integrated and accurate risk handling and risk reporting 

Prepare risk reports, follow up pro-actively on uncertainties and open issues leveraging the Global Risk Management network 

Promote awareness of risk management throughout the organization 

Provide training in risk management methodology and processes 

Build and maintain partnerships with key internal decision makers, and with external risk & security management practitioners 

Contribute to the continuous improvement of SAP’s risk management framework 

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES 

University degree or equivalent in e.g. Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, IT/Computer Science or Law 

Solid overview of SAP products 

Ability to prepare and present reports with recommendations for management review 

Strong analytical skills, and ability to assess relevance of information, consolidate, and prioritize 

Experience in working in intercultural teams including deal-support activities  

Knowledge of the core concepts in Finance,  and Sales and project management 

Develops and maintains fundamental network to collaborate effectively 

Works independently and collaboratively, able to take responsibility for driving end-to-end projects 

Excellent communication and presentation skills on all management levels including C-Level 

Actively drives required changes and transformations 

Fluent in English (orally and written) 

 

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE  

Business experience preferred at SAP for example in Sales, Consulting, Services, Custom Development, Program Management, F&A, Commercial or similar 

Hands on experience in Cloud or On-Premise service delivery is an advantage 

Prior exposure to risk management process (bid process, risk reviews, etc.) is an advantage 

Sales process understanding 

Service Bid lifecycle knowledge  

Exposure and understanding of various customer industries (consulting, pre-sales, support functions, etc) 

Experience in presenting and communicating to management level and cross-functional teams 

Experience with SAP product implementations and project standards is an advantage
