Burns McDonnell is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join our rapidly growing Transportation Practice in our Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri offices. Our ideal candidate will be someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can work both independently and in a team environment.

In this position you will be a part of a skilled team that values each individual's contributions to a project. Typical projects include but are not limited to municipal roadway design projects, multi-lane expressway and interstate projects along with interchange projects of varying complexity.

Responsibilities

Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the design and analysis of transportation projects as well as the contractors and construction staff on design/build projects.Serve as a task lead for varying components of roadway design including the development of horizontal and vertical alignments, development of typical sections, drainage and hydraulic analysis, development of erosion control plans, and the tabulation of project quantities.Responsible for accuracy of engineering plans and design quality, is thorough, follows through, and efficient with budgets and schedules.Makes independent decisions on engineering problems and methods to resolve important questions.Maintain professional knowledge by attending technical workshops, review professional publications, participate in professional societies, and establish/maintain professional networksMentors less experienced staff on technical aspects of a project.Participation in project team meetings and project presentations including presentations to key project stakeholders.
