Overview:\n

Semper Valens is seeking a\u202fSenior Router Engineer\u202fto work on our AFINC contract at\u202fMaxwell-Gunter\u202fAir Force Base.\n

Responsibilities:\n\nManages the gateway, routers, and switches for the AFINC program. \nResolves network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators. \nMonitors data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues. \nActivates scripts as alarms occur or issues surface. \nConfirms accuracy of messages, alarms, or issues and\/or determines severity of problem, issue, or alarm. \nTroubleshoots problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures; escalates as appropriate. \nResearch issues to determine if problem may be resolved using predefined procedures. \nExecutes scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. \nIdentifies issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when necessary.\u202f\n Interfaces with users and\/or network vendors. \nDesigns, engineers, and implements associated projects.\u202f\nDevelop LAN\/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration.\u202f\nDemonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN\/WAN setup, TCP\/IP protocol, routing\/switching configurations, and firewall technologies.\u202f\nDemonstrated knowledge with content switching and load balancers.\u202f\nTroubleshooting complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures and WAN\/LAN connectivity issues.\u202f\nVoIP component configuration and deployment experience\u202fis\u202fa plus.\u202f\nHave a general knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.\u202f\nParticipate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.\u202f\nTroubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.\u202f\nGenerate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.\u202f\nDocument technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.\u202f\nParticipate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.\nFollow policies and procedures for change and incident management.\u202f\n\n

Qualifications:\n\nExperience with Cisco routing\/switching platforms and IOS.\u202f\nExperience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet,\u202fGbE\u202fVLAN, and SONET.\u202f\nExperience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods.\u202f\nKnowledge and experience with Juniper platform\u202fis\u202fa plus.\u202f\nStrong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently as required.\u202f\nApplicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.\n\n

Experience and Education:\n\nFive to seven years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience with Cisco platforms.\nCandidate must have Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and CompTIA Security+ CE certifications.\nBachelor's degree in a Business Management or MIS related field preferred.\n\n

Clearance:\u202f\n\nMust have and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.\u202f\u202f\n\n
