Senior Royalty Operations & Accounting Administrator
**About the Team:** The Royalty Support team in India provides royalty services to Pearson royalty management teams in the US, UK, Canada, India, APAC and DACH regions. As an Assistant Manager Rights & Royalties (Operations),you will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations / functions of Royalty Operations. This includes (1) Timely preparation and review of Royalty Statements and related processes, including advance payments and scheduled payment runs (2) Handling author inquiries and should possess ability to work with large data sets involving substantial amount and transactions, performing various complex analyses and research to ensure accurate payment. Individuals will oversee supporting management's reporting of metrics and informing about any odd circumstances. **General Profile** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, minimum of 3-4 years’ experience, experience in Publishing/ Rights or Royalties will be preferred. Requires specialized skills acquired through job related training /on-the-job experience, or a strong understanding of concepts relating to accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and royalty calculations. **Key Responsibilities:** + Ensuring that royalty statements and payments are accurate and delivered in accordance with author contracts. + Providing analysis and reporting to the portfolio team to support accounting and editorial functions. + Demonstrates a broad understanding of concepts or procedures extending to other areas. + Maintain workflow for royalty statements and payments, ensuring accuracy through preliminary reviews and approvals, especially for high-profile authors. + Provide inquiry support for authors, update vendor records, and handle off-cycle payments and adjustments to ensure accurate royalty distributions. + Respond to tax-related inquiries, generate necessary tax forms, and handle approvals related to manual payments and adjustments. + Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards while preparing work papers for audits by internal and external auditors. + Collaborate with inter and intra departments and support analysts on issues, bugs, reporting tool development and capable to present findings, and conduct data analysis with minimal supervision. + Engage in special projects and prepare manual statements to meet contractual obligations, utilizing deep operational knowledge for effective data compilation. **Accountability** + Performs complex or varied tasks with minimal supervision. + Analyzes possible solutions using experience and/or formal education, judgment, and precedents. + Ensure adherence to procedures, policies, and regulations while preparing and maintaining work papers for author audits by external and Internal auditors.  **Leadership** + Work impacts our own team and potentially internal and external customers. + Adapts approach in new situations and ambiguous circumstances; proactively seeks information to understand the reasons for change. **Influence** + Communicates moderately complex information, potentially through correspondence to internal or external customers. + Negotiates within strict guidelines and with limited discretion with internal and potentially external customers. + Develops relationships effectively within own area. **Skills, knowledge, behaviors** + Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies or trends. + High levels of numeracy with great attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. + Adapts approach in new situations and ambiguous circumstances; proactively seeks information to understand the reasons for change. + Demonstrates self-motivation, determination, and confidence. + Possesses exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal English communication skills. + Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools; Advanced Excel skills are preferred. **Who we are:** At Pearson, our purpose is simple: to help people realize the life they imagine through learning.
