Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Senior Construction Safety Advisor to lead and oversee the Health and Safety Management System for a major infrastructure project in South Vancouver. This role is critical in ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site and maintaining compliance with regulatory and client-specific safety standards. The Advisor will act as a key liaison between site leadership, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies, driving a culture of safety excellence across the project.
ResponsibilitiesLead the development and continuous improvement of the project's Health and Safety Program, policies, and procedures.Ensure full compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations and internal safety protocols.Support senior leadership in meeting legal safety obligations and due diligence.Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.Analyze safety performance data and implement corrective action plans.Collaborate with trades and management to establish clear safety expectations.Lead and support incident investigations and reporting processes.Understand project scope, contracts, and schedules to develop a comprehensive Site-Specific Safety Plan.Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure public safety measures are in place.Provide safety resources such as hazard assessments, signage, and awareness materials.Participate in regulatory site walks and implement hazard mitigation strategies.Lead monthly Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) meetings.Maintain accurate daily worker counts and site safety documentation.Deliver safety training and orientations for staff and subcontractors.Mentor junior safety personnel and support their professional development.Maintain a training matrix to ensure all personnel are certified and competent.Develop and deliver in-house training materials and ongoing education programs.Organize and oversee inspection schedules and internal audits.Manage safety documentation using Procore and other platforms.Ensure subcontractors submit and maintain required safety documentation.Review and issue permits (e.g., hot work, confined space, ground disturbance).Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety meetings.Essential SkillsMinimum 5 years’ experience in a safety advisory role on large, multi-disciplinary construction projects.CSO Certification (Construction Safety Officer).Strong knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations and industry best practices.Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management.Proficiency in safety management software (e.g., SafetySync, ContractorCheck).Strong working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Additional Skills & QualificationsLeadership in managing subcontractors and complex site safety operations.Work Environment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
