Steampunk is seeking an accomplished and visionary Senior Salesforce Technical Architect to oversee the technical design and strategy, delivery excellence, development, and implementation of Salesforce solutions across an entire portfolio or key client account. This role will provide technical leadership, governance, and architectural oversight to ensure alignment with business objectives and best practices. This role also combines technical expertise, strategic leadership, and business acumen to manage a team of project-level Salesforce Technical Architects, ensure scalable and innovative solutions, and actively contribute to the expansion of our account through business development and new work opportunities.

 

The ideal candidate has extensive Salesforce expertise supporting federal government clients, a proven ability to manage complex technical landscapes, a strong track record of mentoring and guiding project-level architects, and ability to align client objectives with transformative Salesforce solutions while fostering account growth.

Contributions

As a Senior Salesforce Technical Architect, you will be the leader, driving technical delivery in a government client consulting environment. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining client relationships, coach, mentor, and an accountable program manager with a proven track record of leading deployments of solutions in a federal government contracting Salesforce environment. 

 

Technical Leadership and Portfolio Oversight

Define and own the technical architecture and strategy for the client portfolio, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing Salesforce solutions.Oversee and guide a team of project-level Salesforce Technical Architects, ensuring alignment with the portfolio-level vision and best practices.Act as the technical authority for the account, providing governance, oversight, and resolution for complex technical challenges.Drive standardization and reusable frameworks across projects to optimize delivery efficiency.Ensure solutions integrate seamlessly with enterprise systems and leverage Salesforce’s multi-cloud capabilities effectively.

Business Development and Account Growth

Partner with account executives and delivery teams to identify growth opportunities and develop proposals for new work.Leverage technical expertise to expand Salesforce footprint by recommending and pitching innovative solutions that align with client business goals.Actively participate in client discussions, building trust and showcasing thought leadership to influence decision-making.Contribute to proposal creation, solution design, and estimation for new Salesforce initiatives, ensuring feasibility and ROI for the client.Establish and nurture relationships with client stakeholders to understand their evolving needs and position the organization as a strategic partner.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Salesforce Technical Architects and developers.Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.Provide technical coaching to ensure delivery teams consistently meet quality and performance expectations.

Delivery Excellence and Governance

Ensure all projects adhere to Salesforce and industry best practices, including security, scalability, and compliance requirements.Conduct regular architecture reviews and provide oversight to maintain consistency and alignment with portfolio goals.Oversee the adoption of modern DevSecOps and CI/CD practices across the portfolio for efficient and reliable deployments.Anticipate risks related to scalability, performance, and integration, and provide proactive mitigation strategies.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

Stay abreast of Salesforce’s evolving ecosystem, including new products, features, and emerging technologies.Identify opportunities to leverage Salesforce innovations to drive business value and improve client outcomes.Build and enforce technical standards and governance models to ensure sustainable and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

Required: 

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology, and 14+ years of experience or equivalent education and/or experience.Proven background in federal government contracting and project management.12+ years of Salesforce experience, with at least 5 years in a senior architect role managing large-scale Salesforce portfolios or accounts, including oversight of multiple projects and teams.Experience overseeing custom Salesforce implementations for a Federal Government client.Ability to get a Federal Clearance.Proficient in Microsoft Visio.Demonstrated experience providing oversight of multiple large-scale projects, managing the strategic approach of an account’s Center of Excellence. Proven success in business development, including identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and contributing to proposals and solutions.Strong technical expertise in Salesforce multi-cloud solutions, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Platform.Salesforce Architect certification: Application Architect, System Architect, and ideally Certified Technical Architect (CTA).Proficient in integration patterns, API design, and enterprise architecture principles, as well as tools like MuleSoft.Solid understanding of DevSecOps methodologies, Salesforce DX Second-Generation Packaging, and modern CI/CD pipelines.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Leadership. If you don't know the difference between that and management, this just isn't going to work out. Experience generating executive-level reports and dashboards on program health, milestones, and financial performance.Experience identifying areas of improvement and recommending optimizations.Proven team player and team builder.Strong organizational and analytical skills.Proven experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA).

Preferred: 

Masters Degree, preferably in Information Technology, and 12+ years of experience or equivalent education and/or experience.Federal Clearance.Experience with Human-Centered Design.

 

About steampunk

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $175,000 to $220,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
