Senior SAM Analyst – IT Asset Management

About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 09 The Team: As a member of the SAM (Software Asset Management) team, you will apply your knowledge and experiences in managing Software Licensing by supporting and protecting S&P Global from software vendor audits, compliance, and regulatory risks, and overspending on software licenses. Responsibilities and Impact: The IT Asset Management team focuses on Software Asset Management ensuring licensing compliance is adhered to, and annual licensing expenses are optimized. Both initiatives will result in reduced penalties and cost savings for the company. Analyze large sets of data related to software installation, hardware configuration, procurement, financial, and license entitlement. Participates in audit readiness processes to ensure we are managing license compliance risks. Maintains proper implementation of Software Asset management discovery tools, policies, processes, and procedures for effective asset management. Builds strong working relationships with other IT departments, including but not limited to, Support & Services, IT Procurement, IT Architecture Group, and Technology Services Groups to ensure software discovery and reporting meets requirements. Recommends process improvement and automation opportunities. Research technology and licensing trends for potential impact on license compliance at S&P Global. Participates in vendor audit activities and responds in accordance with S&P Global policies and procedures. Performs pre-acquisition tasks related to software install/license purchase requests Manages and works software request tickets within the SAM repository Enters license entitlement records into the SAM repository Ensures Proof of Entitlement documentation is properly recorded and stored within the SAM repository. Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Legal, Computer Science, Information Systems or Business is required 3 to 5 years of experience as a Software Asset Manager, Software License Auditor, IT Procurement, or related field is required 3 to 5 years of experience analyzing data and utilizing data analysis tools and techniques Ability to collaborate with business and technology teams Experience working with software inventory discovery data and license entitlement data Experience interpreting complex legal, financial, and technical software licensing terms and conditions and contracts Prior experience with Office365/Teams Platforms. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Software License Management, Software Audit, Software Procurement, or related field Advanced Excel skills are preferred Experience working within the ServiceNow platform and Ariba are plusses. Industry certifications such as ITIL v4 and CSAM encouraged Prior experience in managing licensing for top software publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, JetBrains, Oracle and OpenText Strong data analysis skills and experience working with relational database technologies such as Power BI, Tableau and Dremio Experience working with various software inventory discovery tools/data such as SCCM, IBM BigFix Inventory, ServiceNow Discovery, Tanium Ability to interpret complex legal and software licensing terms and conditions Research skills and the ability to work independently without detailed work instructions Familiarity with IAITAM Best Practice Library or ITIL v3 Asset and Configuration Management process areas a plus What’s In It For You?
