Senior SCADA and Industrial Control System Specialist
POWER Engineers is seeking a Senior Level SCADA and Industrial Control System Specialist to work with our Government Services Division. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of an engineering team engaged in engineering design projects in the Government market including mission-critical infrastructure design to include power delivery, power generation, power distribution, backup power, UPS, system studies, renewable energy, MEP design, and related projects.
Strong team leadership, mentoring, excellent communication skills, presentation skills, motivation, positive attitude, and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently will be core skills for the successful candidate. Our Department is growing and the successful applicant will play an important role in developing a sustainable production department with staff filling roles at all experience levels. The applicant will interface directly with internal and external clients and will demonstrate a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints.
Technical responsibilities include creating and issuing construction drawings and specifications, studies, and reports, as well as demonstrating good working design knowledge of SCADA servers, OPC servers, network design, switch programming, PLCs, RTACs, RTUs, Distributed I/O, server virtualization installation and configuration, Microsoft server installation and configuration, SQL/ACCESS, Active Directory management, and Cybersecurity. Applicant must have excellent knowledge of and experience applying the NEC, NFPA standards, UFC documents, and applicable IEEE standards.
Required Education/Experience
Two plus (2+) years of college or technical/trade school study in an instrumentation/controls disciplineKnowledge and experience with federal government projectsKnowledge and direct application of UFC, UFGS, NEC, and ICC standards is requiredTwelve plus (12+) years of applicable experience in the design and specification of SCADA and Industrial Controls systems for federal buildings and industrial buildingsSpecific expertise in switchgear interface and control (medium and low voltage) in a facility critical system including integration, programming, and start-upCommunication network design including fiber-optic and copper cabling as applied to ethernet and serial/field bus networks in a highly available control system.A working knowledge of protective relaying and interface to utility and generation sources including load share and load transitioning.Advanced experience with a variety of SCADA systems including WonderWare (InTouch and System Platform), Ignition, and Factory Talk.Advanced experience with a variety of PLCs and their programming software including PACs Machine Edition, RSLogics, and Siemens.A working knowledge and understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS).Working knowledge and integration experience of control systems field devices such as transmitters, control valves, actuators, and pressure, level, and temperature switches.Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings that include P&IDs, installation details, wiring diagrams, and schematics.Ability to design and configure network infrastructure and communication paths for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs), PLC and other SCADA system equipmentAbility to self-perform all SCADA and control engineering tasks associated with the project: proposal, design, engineering calculations, cost estimating, client reviews, and construction supportAbility to work with other discipline leads, PMs, and others to manage and run all the SCADA and control efforts for the team on a project while supporting the needs of the other disciplines to effectively coordinate a projectAbility to work with and be supported by senior engineers for guidance and act as a Controls lead or project leadDevelopment of training and mentoring programs/material is beneficial in support of our knowledge management efforts.Ability to mentor junior or mid-level engineers and designersEffective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to changeSuccessfully manage project scope, schedule, and budgetMust have excellent oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel domestically and internationally, and must work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environmentMust be a US CitizenDesired Education/Experience

DOE Salary: The pay range for this position is $60k to $160k annually; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
