Scientific Editor, Cancer Cell and Trends in Cancer
Cancer Cell is a flagship cancer and oncology journal at Cell Press. Trends in Cancer is a “must read” journal in the field of cancer biology and oncology. We are now hiring a scientific editor for both journals in China. The successful candidate will report to Editors-in-Chief of Cancer Cell and Trends in Cancer, and your time will be divided between both journals. We are open to considering candidates at junior and senior levels and seeking applications from candidates with expertise in cancer research. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred but not required. Previous editorial experience is an advantage but is not required. Based on the previous experience of the candidate, we are open to offering a Senior Scientific Editor position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing submitted research papers and making editorial recommendations at Cancer Cell.
- Commissioning and editing Review and Perspective articles, as well as other front matter formats at Trends in Cancer.
- Providing outstanding author service and overseeing the peer review process.
- Establishing relationships with researchers through outreach to the scientific communities and recruiting exciting content.
- Traveling to scientific conferences and academic institutes especially in Europe.
- Working collaboratively with the editorial teams and with academic Advisory Board members.
- Helping to devise and execute strategy using data-driven innovation approaches.
- Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond.
- Strengthening the visibility and reputation of the journals.
- Organizing scientific conferences and contributing to Cell Press growth and innovation projects.
What we are looking for:
- A PhD or MD in cancer research or clinical oncology.
- A talent and passion for scientific communication.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Critical thinking and the willingness to learn and absorb new areas of research.
- The ability to work successfully both independently and in a diverse global team.
- A can-do attitude, strategic mindset, and solution orientation.
