Senior Scientist, Product Development

POSITION SUMMARY:   

Natera is seeking an innovative Sr. Scientist, Product Development to join Natera’s Oncology Product Development Team. We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated candidate with experience in next generation sequencing (NGS) assay development that can work effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure that the highest quality clinical assays are developed and launched for our patients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Design and plan development, verification, and validation studies with stakeholder input and coordinate efforts to achieve milestones within established timelines  Independently execute in-lab efforts both manually and using automated liquid handlers  Analyze the data, identify the root cause of problems, and develop solutions to resolve problems effectively Provide regular updates at project team and departmental meetings on project progress, outcomes, and next steps to ensure alignment and transparency Write SOPs, study protocols and reports, manufacturing and QC documents. This role will have occasional access to PHI both in paper and electronic form and have occasional access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire Must maintain current status on assigned Natera trainings Employee must pass post-offer criminal background check Be flexible to handle multiple tasks and priorities, and perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

PhD with 5 years of industry experience OR Master's degree with 7 years of industry experience required Strong scientific background in Molecular and Cell biology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Hands-on experience with NGS technologies, including DNA extraction, library preparation, multiplex PCR, and hybrid capture  Experience with developing and validating molecular assays for CLIA lab testing Experience with developing or executing assays on automated liquid handling platforms is highly desirable Proficient in data analysis using tools such as Excel, JMP, or R Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Exceptional communication and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and demonstrated success in collaborative and individual projects Demonstrated ability to write clear project plans, study protocols and reports, and SOPs Experience with reagent QC is a plus

 

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.San Carlos, CA $125,300—$156,600 USD
