Job Description

Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Warren, MI or Austin, Texas) three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

The Applied Analytics & Insights – Internal Business Functions team is focused on execution-based analytics to help GM achieve better business outcomes through contextualized solutions with targeted actions. The individual will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of various experience levels that frame opportunities, wrangle the necessary data and create end-to-end analytical pipelines, develop user interfaces for analytical insights, and build POC and production models in support of better business decisions. The team is responsible for both advanced analytics strategy and applied, project-based solutions, focusing on the company’s most critical business areas.

What You’ll do:

Work as a member of a cross-functional team to propose and implement high-impact data driven analytic solutions that address challenges across internal business functionsApply Data Science and Modeling techniques to drive data driven decision making and solve complex problems:Build predictive/prescriptive models and machine-learning algorithmsAnalyze large amounts of diverse information to discover trends and patternsUndertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured dataMonitor and sustain model effectivenessPresent complex information using data visualization techniquesWork with diverse technical teams to provide analytical dataset pipelines and user interfaces to ensure project deliverables fulfill business needs and timingCreate technical documents for models and processesPresent complex information using data visualization techniques and data storytellingCreate repeatable and scalable code and processes for improving development/execution efficiency.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or another quantitative fieldMinimum five years of experience as a Data Scientist developing, deploying, and monitoring performance of large analytic data sets and machine learning based modelsProficient writing code using Python or R and developing SQL queries, running models in Spark, working with big data tools like Hadoop, IBM Elastic Storage System, or equivalent, and visualizing data using Power BI or Tableau or otherHands-on experience developing and deploying models using MLops framework utilizing Databricks /Azure services ( Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Power BI) or AWS tools (SageMaker, Glue, EMR) or GCP (Dataflow, Big Query, Cloud Run)Capable of working with diverse technical teams to produce analytical dataset pipelines and user interfacesText analytics and NLP (natural language processing) experience in a corporate setting is a plus.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects at once without sacrificing qualityStrong listening and communications skillsHighly collaborative work styleAbility to evaluate the big picture and provide meaningful business insights and actions
