Role Summary

Conducts more advanced chemical and/or chemical engineering related experiments, complex technical operations, or information search/analysis projects and optimizes and interprets methodologies and analysis and suggests experiments or alternative approaches.

Recognizes erroneous or unexpected results, interprets, and analyzes results and makes suggestions based on their analysis and conclusions.

Interprets and analyzes results, makes suggestions on path forward and contributes to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.

Independently adapts new methodology to current projects.

Effectively assigns and outlines work to technicians. Drives technical experiments to achieve desired results through technicians by an established deadline.

Influences and advises developing Scientists and technicians on technical problems.

Degree of Autonomy and Authority

Under moderate supervision. Work assigned with detailed oral and occasionally written instructions as to methods and procedures to be followed.

Knowledge Management

Technical Knowledge / Recognized Authority

Applies a high level of knowledge/understanding of coatings, resins, and curing chemistries, and paint technology across a range of different coating layers for a business specific application.

High level of understanding of Axalta available analytical and further testing method for coatings. Leads development and maintenance of in- house and new technologies.

Technical Approach

Handles complex problems through data analysis. Uses DOE for complex product development projects minimizing number of iterations and experiments.

Promotes new product ideas based on competitive intelligence and benchmarking. Leads/Co-leads incident investigation where contributing factors are technology related.

Analyzes site performance and identifies areas of improvement. May have responsibility for complex lean methodology projects and for the results.

Collaborates with others and contributes to the generation of new technology and ideas.

Develops new and creative solutions to customer challenges. Understands other companies troubleshooting methodology.
