Job Summary:
Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. CWT is looking for a bright, hard-working scientist to join our dynamic research and development team. This role is responsible for leading the execution of laboratory work in the development of new products and reformulation efforts across a variety of product lines including adhesives, sealants, coatings, water/weather proofing, and asphalt systems. The scientist will work closely with value chain partners, commercial leadership, and technical leadership to support current business and influence technology development. The scientist will monitor technical advances, trends, and environmental issues in the industry that may influence future product development direction. Some domestic travel may be required to support scale up of new products or to address issues with existing products. This position operates under the general guidance of the R&D Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leading research activities on new and existing products as well as identifying and implementing new technologies within the R&D business group. Leading multiple New Product Development projects critical to support and grow building envelope business. Managing the technical projects from ideation through scale up to commercialization. Supporting the business through new product development, processing and performance improvement, raw material qualification and cost reduction projects. Collaborating with sales, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, warranty departments on defined project priorities, project scope and future development directions. Documenting work in technical reports. Championing of safe workspaces and practices.Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the physical, chemical, and mechanical behavior of thermoplastic polymers Ability to analyze data, understand structure property relationships of polymers and conduct relative testing and evaluations. Experience with FTIR, DSC, TGA and rheology analysis of polymers. Design of experiments, especially as applied to development of formulations. Project management skills in a cross functional environment. Ability to communicate effectively.Working Conditions:
Laboratory and office environment daily. Occasional visits to manufacturing facilities.
