The Senior Scientist Antibody Validation contributes to Abcam’s Antibody Product Portfolio expansion by designing validation strategies to characterise new antibodies.
This position reports to the Head of IHC and Disease Specific Validation and is part of the Validation Team located in Cambridge and is on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Designing the best strategy for the validation of new antibodies in critical research areas like cancer, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and metabolic disorders.
+ As an experienced scientist contribute to ideas and establishment of protocol and protocol improvements. Be proactive in their validation, optimization and documentation and take responsibility for validating new assay protocols and their integration into standard work streams.
+ Communicate clearly with project managers and interacting with team leaders, providing delivery dates, updates, and the necessary documentation.
+ Maintain high quality standards within the lab; ensuring the lab is compliant with all external and internal quality standards, including ISO9001
The essential requirements of the job include
+ PhD in a life sciences field, or equivalent years of experience in industry setting (typically 5 years)
+ +7 years’ experience between academia and industry
+ Excellent technical skills and strong understanding of scientific principles.
+ Strong background and practical expertise in immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques (including multiplexing assays) and in situ hybridisation
+ Experience in performing manual and/or automated Image analysis
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Proven track record of delivering projects with impressive results and to deadlines as well as an ability to teach and mentor others
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Experience within an IVD or pharmaceutical organisation and/or working under regulatory guidelines, such as GCPL or GLP
