MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph. D, M.D, D.O., or D.V.M in related field and six years of related experience with Peer Review Publications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating overall project assignments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Competency - Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating overall project assignments. Laboratory Management -Manages all aspects of the lab including staffing, staff development, safety training and all applicable policies, laws, and regulations. Research Projects- Identifies and assesses feasibility and significance of research projects. Establishes research objectives and methodology, designs procedures, conducts research projects, analyzes, and interprets results. Principal Investigator - Research Scientists may submit training grants as Principal Investigator (PI), provided they have a faculty mentor. Research Scientists may submit equipment, renovation, or other facility/core enhancement grants as the PI. Research Scientists can write a research grant with the approval and commitment of the Supervisor and Chair Presentations/Publications Publishes and presents research. Works independently First/Senior authored publications. Staff Development Ensures proper training of Classified Research staff and Post Doctoral Fellows. Peer recognition – National Recognition General Education - All levels typically require a doctoral degree or equivalent in research skills and subject knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline and each level requires increasing professional achievement. Specialized knowledge or expertise in a particular subject area may allow for project - specific lead responsibilities.SALARY:
