This senior role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our Central REDCap installation, providing advanced scientific and technical support, and leading data-driven projects to ensure the creation of high-quality data collection tools. As a Senior REDCap Scientist, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of IT specialists, biostatisticians, project coordinators, and researchers, contributing to innovative research initiatives across various scientific domains. At Rutgers University, our REDCap system is the largest installation in New Jersey, supporting a wide range of research disciplines. While a significant portion of our projects are in the clinical research domain, our system also supports research in marine biology, education, social work, engineering, university administration, and library sciences. Our mission is to empower researchers with a user-friendly research database that requires no programming skills. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provide advanced scientific consultation to researchers, including intake, problem definition, solution design, execution, and delivery of complex REDCap projects tailored to scientific research needs. Lead the design and implementation of REDCap projects involving advanced logic, calculations, data migration, and dynamic SQL fields, ensuring scientific rigor and data integrity. Work closely with investigators to define scientific scope, requirements, deliverables, and timelines. Collaborate with other REDCap specialists and the project administrator for complex research projects. Document technical specifications with a focus on scientific accuracy and adherence to coding standards and development/validation practices. Develop and deliver custom training for end users, with an emphasis on scientific research applications, and mentor junior team members. Partner with other IT service teams, such as Rutgers University Biostatistics & Epidemiology Services (RUBIES) and Clinical and Research Data Warehouse (CRDW), to support integrated scientific data solutions. Provide backup for other team members and functions as needed. Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.
