Common accountabilities:
- Has working experience and advanced and specialized technical/functional knowledge in own discipline. Understands how own area contributes to the business. Acts as a reference for colleagues with less experience and supports junior team members.
- Influences decisions related to own activity, anticipating dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios, contributes to transversal projects, proposes improvements to processes and is accountable for own and team commitments.
- Works independently within plan dictated by manager, with some guidance on most complex situations.
Specific accountabilities:
The Scrum Master Senior Specialist coaches 1 or more Agile teams, in a scaled Agile environment like in SAFe. The Scrum Master Senior Specialist is accountable for teaching Agile methodology and practices to his/her team members. They contribute actively and regularly to the Scrum Master Community and are a reference for other Scrum Masters of the Agile Release Train. The Scrum Master Senior Specialist operates in a certain level of complexity (complex train set-up, lot of dependencies cross teams...). Among his/her responsibilities are:
Coach the agile practices
* Coach team leaders and teams members in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
* Teach the team Agile practices (ceremonies, agile estimation, artifacts, demonstrating the value, continuous improvement, built-in quality)
* Listen and support people with problem identification and decision making
* Is responsible for implementing Agile (Scrum, Kanban) best practices at team level
* Encourage collaboration between teams and stakeholders
* Is responsible for implementing Agile (Scrum, Kanban) best practices by federating & coaching train stakeholders on adopting Agile mindset
* Is a key change agent
* Create an environment of mutual influence, encourage personal development and support the commitment made by the Agile team.
* Participate in the Scrum Master Communities of Practice of to other CoP needed (Quality, DevOps, etc.)
Ensure predictability and transparency of the Agile team
* Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile team
* Assist tracking the execution of User stories and capabilities
* Budget definition and dispatch, implementation of the lean budgeting
* Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
* Track and communicate key Agile team execution metrics
Facilitate Agile team events
* Ensure Alignment by Agile team events (planning, refinements, review, retrospectives, etc.)
* Facilitate all ceremonies at team level (Sprint planning, sprint review, sprint retrospective, daily standup)
* Actively prepare and participate to all team ceremonies at Train level (Teams breakouts during the PI planning event, System demo, ART sync )
* Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
* Summarize Team goals and publish them for visibility and transparency
Ensure Quality of delivery, and leverage customer feedback
* Work with Product Management, Product Owners and other stakeholders to help filling the backlog and demonstrating Agile mindset
* Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings
Manage risk and dependencies
Continuous Improvement
* Drive relentless improvement via retrospective workshops; assess the agility level of the Agile teams and help them improve
