Introduction to the job
As a Scrum Master you will focus on two agile teams (functional) and interact with key stakeholders of the teams: the PO(s), other Scrum Masters and the 'Leading Coalition' (Release Train Engineer, Chief Product Owner, Architect). You will be involved in operational/short term challenges (multiple iterations, 1 Program Increment) and will need to focus on team eco-system to enable the team for sustained high performance.
Role and responsibilities
Establish and maintain agile mindset:
Builds the agile mindset within the agile teams. Ensures that the teams understand and contribute to the value they generate. Guards the agile principles. Ensures all scrum events are conducted in accordance with the ADM.
Meet realistic team/train commitments:
Ensures that the team creates a realistic plan per program increment (PI). Guides the team on setting realistic commitments and meeting them. Identifies impediments, to ensure committed iteration goals are met by the agile teams.
Lets the teams start to self-organize to meet the objectives. Have a good understanding of the 6-quarter portfolio and roadmap of the teams.
Build a competent team/train:
Analyses and improves current team rituals and behavior in the teams.
Acts as a mentor for PO and Team members to increase team efficiency.
Is a skilled facilitator of team rituals and is developing skills to motivate and coach the team and PO. Collaborates with the release train engineer (RTE) and other scrum masters to improve the performance of the train.
Relentless improvement (based on lean-agile mindset and principles):
Analyses team rituals, identifies bottlenecks and provides advice regarding improvements in team rituals to optimize value delivery.
Education and experience
Master degree or equivalent working and thinking level, with thorough experience in engineering or IT and solid experience as Scrum Master.Extensive knowledge and experience with iterative development fundamentals and teaches this to others. Well-experienced in team-building and facilitation, removing roadblocks.At least 3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master (or similar team leadership roles)Experience with leading a team of ~15 members Proven track record in working with functional and software development teamsPreferably experienced in handling multiple agile teamsPreferably having a scrum master certificate (PSM I, PSM II, SSM, or CSM)SkillsFlexible, pragmatic, and determinedEntrepreneurial spiritAble to work in a complex environmentAble to deal with ambiguityStrong interpersonal relationship skillsTeam playerGood communications skills and fluent in English
