Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Software Development Engineer will design and develop foundational services that enable Project Kuiper to operate and manage our satellite constellation and ground stations. These services include Telemetry, Contact Orchestration, Commanding and File Transfer. The systems we build serve a fundamental role in the successful functioning of the satellite constellation, and several supporting teams. They depend on us to have mission-critical reliability, uptime, and performance.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop software systems that meet the mission criteria and requirements.
- Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.
- Help on-board new team members.
- Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-available software services.
