THE ROLE:
To help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking applicants for a Senior Seat Stress Engineer (M/F/D) to join our rapidly expanding, world class team within our Part 21J Design Organization. We will support you to develop your already substantial skills and encourage you to reach your career goals.
The successful candidate will support the certification of large aircraft modifications within the fields of seat integration for our global airline partners to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements and procedures defined in the company’s Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
This role is based in our BGS EASA Modifications sites in Hamburg, Germany with hybrid working options.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Structures Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team, across multiple time-zones, in order to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projectsLead certification activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, and be a technical focal for certification and stress issues related to seat certification and installationCompile and review structural substantiation documents related to:Product certification and integration to the aircraft of:Seating installations (economy-, premium economy-, business- and first class seats incl. first class suites and seat furniture)LRU installations on seat levelPerforming hand calculations and FE calculations within the fields of linear, non-linear and multi-body dynamic simulationAssess and predict structural failure modes incl. execution of root cause analysisAct as Boeing representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers during the embodiment phase of the projectThis role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers and subcontractors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree within Stress/Structures/Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical EngineeringFive years relevant experiencePREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is essentialExperience within (E)TSO program of seat development and certification - from beginning to approval incl. test witnessing - is essentialExcellent knowledge and experience of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25 and FAR-25 requirements incl. related AC’s and AMC’s (relevant to §25.562)Experience of certifying novel seat features such as pre-tensioners and air bagsProficient in hand calculations and FEA incl. linear, non-linear and multi-body dynamic analysisA high level of attention to detail and professional integrityAbility to efficiently and effectively work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirementsAbility to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demandsAbility to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity and TransparencyWilling and able to help develop, mentor and coach less experienced staffExperience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standardsABOUT YOU:
