JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT Job Title:           Senior Securities Specialist Division:            Unclaimed Property Classification:   Exempt Location:           Springfield, Illinois Salary:               $55,000 - 65,000 Overview :  The Senior Securities Specialist serves as the second-in-command in the Securities area of the Unclaimed Property Division, providing multifaceted, managerial support in directing and overseeing all activities, assigned projects, and initiatives. This position is responsible for the data entry and tracking of securities held by the division and for ensuring accurate posting of all transactions related to security sales and dividends earned on held securities.  The Senior Securities Specialist provides direct support to various divisions within the State Treasurer’s Office as needed and related to securities held by Unclaimed Property. The goal of this position is to maintain accurate securities information and assist in the return of assets. Attendance is an essential function of this position. Duties and Responsibilities: + Provides immediate support to the Manager of Securities in managing area operations and executing assigned responsibilities. + Collaborates with the Manager of Securities in strategic planning and program implementation pertinent to the Securities area. + Enters securities transactions to the database. This includes but is not limited to corporate actions, sales, dividends and return of securities. +  Assists other divisions of the office as needed for any securities related issues. + Serves as initial contact for the public with securities related questions. + Liaison between STO and custodians holding securities for the division. + Maintains records for securities returned to claimants which have physical certificates issued. + Maintains supporting documentation related to the Securities unit. + Assists in the mass sale of securities (June and December) as well as individual sales, as needed, throughout the year. + Performs monthly Securities reconciliation. + Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above. Specific Skills: + Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including high proficiency in Excel + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Ability to multi-task and work independently and as a team player in a deadline-oriented environment. + High attention to detail and capacity to listen and communicate effectively and understand policies and procedures. + Must maintain satisfactory working relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the public. + Ability to resolve problems through effective communication skills and professional interaction Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or other related field; three (3) or more years of experience in securities operations or accounting; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the duties of the position.   Application Process: Please visit https://illinoisstatetreasurer.applytojob.com/apply to apply by completing the online application, upload a resume and letter of interest.
